Veterans Rights Network Endorses Gathering of Eagles

February 24, 2007

For Immediate Release!

February 24, 2007

All Stations,

This media release is to confirm our support and participation with the “Gathering of Eagles’ event scheduled for March 17th in Washington, DC.

The FIREBASE NETWORK Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse GOE and their Mission Statement.

In addition, we are encouraging all FBN stations and supporters to embrace the GOE mission and attend the event in DC. It is time WE stood up for what WE believe in. We simply must protect the memory and honor of our dead. And we simply cannot allow our men and women returning home to suffer degradation, humiliation and scorn such our Vietnam brothers and sisters have, and still experience. It is extremely important at this time in our history that we repel all attacks on the morale of our brave men and women in uniform. To do anything less, may be very detrimental to future enlistments, retention, and our overall national security.

On behalf of the FIREBASE NETWORK, we Salute Col. Harry Riley on his innovative Leadership, and wish him great success with the GOE Mission.

National Director,
Rick Townsend

My Dear Nam Brothers and Sisters–

Let us all stand proud and respectful, either at home or in DC on March 17th. Let it be known to ALL that we still will protect our numbers who fought for this Country, as well as for the Memorials erected to them.

Always stay within the bounds of Military Protocol, while doing your “job”. If anyone is to show disrespect and/or hatred, let it be the dissenters, and not us Military Veterans !!

    Hoo-Rah, Troops !!!!

    Army Nurse Corps 66-71
    Nam Vet 69-71
Let the media report on THAT!

“…we simply cannot allow our men and women returning home to suffer degradation, humiliation and scorn such (as) our Vietnam brothers and sisters have…”

    Well said.

More than 1,000 signatures? I wonder what the percentage of them signed under false pretenses? What exactly defines “Military Personnel” - active duty? retired? wannabe? in this petition.

Of course the anti-war petition drive is the one the MSM covers. The one they don’t cover is the petition drive at http://www.appealforcourage.org/ that service members are signing IN SUPPORT OF THE MISSION!!

Spread that link through your emails people!

My heart feels so good about the “surge” the Vietnam Vets are enjoying along with all Veterans.
Stand tall brothers and sisters, you’re still the best this nation has to offer.
One other point, I have known Col. Riley for well over a decade and he is the leadership that we need for this moment. Guts, Grit and heart, backed up by clear purpose and common sense. I’ll follow him anywhere.

As a Vietnam Vet I’m regretfull that I cannot be there to physically support your efforts to protect our national monuments especially the WALL. I pray for your safety and your bravery. Good Luck, and GOD BLESS.
