Of the many moving “tributes” to our military that I’ve encountered on the web, this has to rank at or near the top. We would be remiss not to acknowledge the producer and distributor of this stunning presentation, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Clegg at GCS Distributing…

    ————————-

“My wife and I originally created this presentation for our parents who served in the Vietnam War era. Many of the emotional wounds of that time are still very painful. We wanted them to know that we know their service to their country was honorable. Though we could not be there then, here is our emotional dressing for old wounds that never healed.”

Also, a tip of the hat to “Operation Mom”( http://www.operationmom.org ) who have been hosting this tribute and many others for quite some time now.

As requested, should you wish to replay the video, please consider downloading the file for replay so as to save either site the additional bandwidth burden.

I am a Retired Navy Sailor and a Vetern of the sea war off the coast of South Vietnam and Thi tribute really hit home. The Toby Kieth song did also but did not hat the impact of this Tribute. This and others that I have seen in the last year or so show me, that, for the most part, our children understand what we went through better than we tend to give them credit for. My daughter is living proof of that.

My duties at the local Navy base Police department and a total lack of funds will prevent me from joining you on March 17th but be assured that I will be there in Spirit.

Regards and thank you for this email tribute.

I think this generation of children of Vietnam Veterans have a better understanding than the adults at the time of the war did.

    Great job!

Join us at the Wall. Stand with us in silent pride and help form a wall of protection around those now silent heroes who are now unable to stand in defense of what is sacred to us all.

Colonel Cook, thanks. Due to medical problems we will not be able to attend. We will send a contribution to support those who will attend. Thank all of those Eagles that are there. Our prayers will be with you.
May God Bless and be with You.

Linked it from my place and our group blog earlier after one of several emails I got making sure I saw it. Glad to see it getting some exposure here. Absolutely awesome.

What an amazing tribute to our parents of the Viet Nam War. This awesome production flooded me with the memories of a five year old little girl, sitting on the floor with her 3 year old brother, watching soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines getting off of airplanes in San Francisco…while my mother sat on the couch, weeping because “our daddy” was not among them yet, returning home. I remember the old “reel to reel” audio tapes that we made to send my father our voices filled with love and longing. I remember getting his return tapes and squeeling with joy to hear the sound of his voice. I remember and still treasure the Vietnamese doll that he presented me with upon his miraculous arrival home. I remember a few of his disturbed nights.

By the grace of God, we in our family, count ourselves immensly blessed to have been eventually reunited with our father. We also count ourselves immensly honored to have been associated with so many loyal and brave American Troops that made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and this great country. We are blessed by what they did beyond measure and we still grieve for them and with their families today.

Now, with the Gathering of Eagles, we all have the tremendous opportunity to stand up for what our heros of the past did, and what our modern day heros are doing right now, both stateside and overseas. They all must know the depth of our support for them.

May God continue to bless my father, Col. Harry G. Riley, (US Army, Retired) and all those who love this nation and place the good of this country above themselves. May those of us who enjoy the freedom that they have preserved at such a high cost…NEVER, NEVER FORGET.

All my love and admiration Dad,

    BM J,

It’s time to get off your mommy’s computer and go to bed.

Put on your jammies and say goodnight to the nice folks here.

Too bad the Vietnam veterans are letting one of their comrade (George Bush) ruin this country.

    Comrade. Nice choice of words.

    Kathie,

Your dad did a fantastic job raising you (and having spent so much time working with him on this, I understand where you get your values). That made me cry. Hope to meet you at the Wall.

I haven’t cried this much since I watched them fold the flag that was draped over my Dad’s casket. Absolutely beautiful tribute to Vietnam Vets. It’s been a long time coming. Welcome home, we love you all!

Absolutely fantastic. Thanks to everyone who had a part in making the video available. This proves that it’s never too late to say thank you. I was genuinely touched.

My daddy sent me this video. I cried the whole 2 times I watched it. Thank you so much for making this video. It really means alot to all our heros from past and present. I have adopted a soldier and send letters of support and cards of encouragement to soldier’s who are fighting at this time. This video just confirms how much I love doing what I am currently doing for them.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
