Security Update #4
March 10, 2007
Those groups who are planning operations at the Memorials independent of the Gathering of Eagles security teams, please check in with us before deploying your forces. There is an overall security plan which your group will need to fit into. No reason not to keep your folks together, but your activities need to be coordinated with those of other groups and individuals. Also, we will need to pass along to you the expectations and requirements of the National Park Service. Please send contact information for your group leader to OWB at gatheringofeagles dot org for coordination.
Unit and American flags and their poles, may be displayed anywhere but the immediate areas of the Memorials. It is not possible for us to tell you in this medium exactly what that is, but you will probably know it when you see it, and our marshals will instruct you the limits beyond which none of us will be carrying packs, flags, and other items which could obstruct the view of NPS personnel.
The easiest way for most groups to secure their items may be to split into a couple of groups. One group would find an area to keep the packs and flags while the rest of the unit visits the Memorials. Then, the two (or more) groups could swap out guard duty of the personal gear and flags with those who are within the Memorials.
We must keep the mission in mind at all times and be sensitive to the simple fact that the Park Service may change the rules as it sees fit to protect life and property.

As a retired Philadelphia Police Officer/Corporal I have had unpleasant experiences of being detailed to many demonstrations in the city (MOVE ‘78 & ‘85, ACT-UP, Pro-Life & Pro-Choice, ‘Free Mumia’ etc.). It takes a lot of will power not to ‘lash out’ when demonstrators start ‘getting in your face’. Remember our mission…but don’t forget that in DC, spitting on someone IS a crime, an assault, and the police MUST respond and make an arrest if you wish to file charges and agree to attend court. I’ll be there with my cameras, and no one will assault a GOE member and not be prosecuted to the fullest extentof the law.

I, for one, plan to march right past the memorials and to the Pentagon. I’m glad you’re defending the Vietnam Memorial but it may be excessive, as nobody is planning to desecrate it.
The Pentagon is where the war was planned, and where the exit strategy was not planned. I believe this war is illegal and immoral, and our troops should never have been committed to such a folly. Saddam could have been eliminated without the unnecessary loss of American life.
I disagree with point #7 of your mission statement. It is possible to support the troops but not the war. You can oppose the war without engaging in “behavior that is demeaning and abusive to the men and women who wear our nation’s uniform.”

When considering how many of us may actually show up on the 17th consider this: There are (approximately) 1.4 million active and reserve military members, there are (approximately) 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers from city cops to FBI agents, there are (approximately) 400,000 fire fighters across the country. This all ads up to about 3.5 million people who answer the 911 phone when the other 296 million call for help. Just one percent of the population are available to keep the barberians at the gates. I quess my point is that if those who show up at this rally are only one percent of the anti war protestors then we are well representative of the way it really is every day. I vividly remember the Move/Powelton Village mess resulting in the murder of yet another Philadelphia Police Officer.

They drive around in their big Escalante’s, Beemers, and Mecedes and then yell about a war for oil, go figure! As others have stated, there seems to be no penalty for treason. I do not believe that President Bush has committed treason but if he had he can rest comfortably so long as he gets the same penalty that John Kerry did.
I will be more than proud standing guard at what ever post I am assigned on the 17th. It will be comforting to watch the anti war crowd wet its collective pants while seeking therapy for the mental pain and suffering they will endure because of our presence.
We are from all walks of life but we stand together, unified, because we all have one important thing in common. We all serve (or served) this country and we will protect it against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC. That includes the anti war zealots who think they have some God given right to run rampant across our country.
I remember hearing one time, “don’t start no trouble, won’t be no trouble.” That is something the anti war crowd should read over and over and commit to memory. We come in peace to do a duty but will resort to whatever means are necessary to fulfill that duty.

I’m not a brave man, I don’t have the courage to join the armed forces, but I’m grateful that people do have that kind of courage. However, I’m not afraid of a group of people shouting and waving flags over by the wall. If I’m not planning to desecrate a memorial, then what’s to be afraid of?
Of course I understand that Islamic extremists want to kill us and our families. What did that have to do with Iraq four years ago? Or are you one of those fools who think Saddam hit us on 9/11?
We’re an occupying force in the middle of someone else’s civil war. What did you expect when we handed Iraq to the Shiites? Now it’s an Islamic theocracy aligned with Iran. Our tax dollars are going to the Shiite militants so they can exterminate the Sunnis. So naturally the Saudis want to help their Sunni brethren retaliate. They’re giving the insurgents the missiles that are shooting down our helicopters!
Now, in hindsight, don’t you think it would’ve been worth waiting until we had an exit strategy before attacking Iraq? Or was it such a big emergency, as Bush framed the issue, that Hussein was about to hit us with a nuke? See, I’m not even saying we should never have invaded! I just think there was a better way.
I’m no expert, but it sure looks like Iraq will be a disaster whether we stay or go. So what’s the point of staying? Nobody in Iraq is fighting for OUR freedom. We’re just defending badly drawn borders. Even our top generals are saying there’s no military solution.
I think the war is a huge misguided allocation of our precious resources. I care because I love my country and I believe it’s my duty to speak out!

Moonbat, If you think that some of these protestors won’t touch the wall or the other national monuments, you have been living with your head in the sand for too long… I had an experience with these types on my college campus in March 2003… I had to walk through a large group of anti war protestors gathered at the center of campus to get to my class. One of them noticed the American Flag pin and little yellow Support Our Troops pin on my backpack. He walked up to me, shoved me down and then rippped the pins off my backpack and stomped on them… all while screaming obsenities at me. Those type of people will be marching on the Pentagon on March 17th. They have already spray painted graffiti on the Capitol steps during a previous protest, what makes you think they wont go for a bigger target, one that will really piss people off?
You think any of us actually like war, that any of these men, and now women serving, like leaving their families, that they like giving up holidays and birthdays? They do it for something greater for themselves, they serve for all of us, this entire country, even the moonbats, and I for one am grateful.
The problem is that you are missing the point. We ARE in Iraq NOW, we are fighting, and we are fighting Al Qaeda and other fanatical elements. We have already opened Pandora’s box, there is NO GOING BACK. It no longer matters why we went to war in Iraq, because it doesn’t change what we are facing NOW. Look at the big picture. This is a war of ideologies and this war won’t end even if we bring our troops home.

Can you imagine what will happen if those resources fall into the hands of Al Qaeada or some other extremist group? September 11th will look like a walk in the park. If we withdraw our troops, it will not be difficult for them to topple the Iraqi government. Do you know how vunerable America is? Homeland Security has just scratched the surface of what could be done to protect us. There simply isn’t enough money or manpower to screen every cargo plane or ship, or protect every nuclear power plant. I hope you dont feel safe after reading this because you aren’t. All it takes is for them to be right once, we have to be right every time. The odds of us being right every time, stopping every possible attack… If I were a gambler, even I wouldnt take those odds.
You can point fingers, placing blame, and protest all you want, but it doesnt change the facts. We could say if only, would have, should have, could have, all day long, but until you come up with viable alternatives, our troops need to stay right where they are at.

Here’s a list of terrorists commenting on their own connection to to Iraq. The comments come from different sources. They didn’t get the memo that they weren’t supposed to be connected to Iraq.
We have opened Pandora’s box but that’s no reason to stay indefinitely. I don’t think the answer is more war. A viable solution? How about actually helping the Iraqis rebuild? If we actually cared about them like we claim to, we’d provide all the services they need to recover. (With all the money we’ve spent, we could have just given every Iraqi $30,000.) The reason the world used to like us is that we gave them a hand.
There are other ideas, like the partition plan, which is kind of happening already. Al Qaeda will never take over Iraq because they’re a Sunni group. But we’ve just handed the country to the worse of two sects, the one that believes the next prophet Mohammed will rise out of a well in Iran. The two groups will be fighting each other with or without us.
Unfortunately there will always be terrorists, so we need to redefine the war. How about actually going after bin Laden in Pakistan?
I’m not too fond of ANSWER but if you take a cross section of the people at the march, you’ll see that the vast majority are regular, sensible people. Sure the socialists will be there passing out their fliers but we just throw them away. We’re not there to try to eliminate our democracy, we just want a more sensible foreign policy. Many years later I was able to dig that memory out by way of a poem I wrote so my VA counselor could help me live with it. The Progress Unity Fund (PUF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose stated purpose is “to help break down the barriers of divisiveness and discrimination that exist in the world, and replace them with a sense of solidarity.� These barriers, says PUF, “may be legal, social, economic, or political,� and they “may have been created along lines of class, race, gender, or ethnicity.�
PUF is closely affiliated with the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party (WWP), which is the guiding force behind Ramsey Clark’s International Action Center and the antiwar organization International ANSWER). Examination of PUF’s public tax returns reveals that all of the organization’s grants go to WWP and its front organizations. Moreover, PUF’s three Co-Directors — Brenda Sandburg, Rose Penate, and Keith Pavlik — are WWP members. All three have written numerous articles for WWP’s own weekly newspaper, Workers World.
International ANSWER identifies PUF as its “fiscal sponsor.â€? Credit card donations to ANSWER are made through PUF, and checks intended for ANSWER’s benefit are made payable to the Progress Unity Fund. The Mission Street address listed on the San Francisco-based PUF’s website is identical to that of the International Action Center’s West Coast branch office — meaning that a nonprofit organization is sharing office space with its principal benefactor.

I have one Major Mom, a Masters degree, I would be happy to produce my transcripts and the thesis I wrote about the last battle of the Cold War between the USA and USSR in Afghanistan. Its the reason I feel like I do, because we walked away from Afghanistan in 1991, let that country fall into a civil war and then when the Taliban took over 5 year later, and hosted Bin Laden and his minions… well we dont have to draw a big line to correlate 9/11 with Bin Laden do we?
What I said before and will say again, whatever the motivation for the war in Iraq, we can’t change what has been done, there is no going back, and if we pull out now, history will repeat itself. We need to find a way to move forward instead of wasting so much time placing blame. Its interesting that you call me white trash, My dad is a Vietnam Veteran, he was a combat engineer, and ended up badly wounded by a mine in Chu Lai, Vietnam in 1969. It didnt stop him from providing for his family or making sure I had the opportunity to go to college. If the middle class is white trash, and you have identified with being “lower middle class” what does that make you?

On Wolves Sheepdogs and Sheep
Excerpted from On Combat by Lt. Col. David Grossman, US Army ret. with permission
One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: “Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident.� This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another.
Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million.
Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.
I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful. For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.
“Then there are the wolves,� the old war veteran said, “and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy.� Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.
“Then there are sheepdogs,� he went on, “and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf.� Or, as a sign in one California law enforcement agency put it, “We intimidate those who intimidate others.�
If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath–a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.
The gift of aggression
Everyone has been given a gift in life. Some people have a gift for science and some have a flair for art. And warriors have been given the gift of aggression. They would no more misuse this gift than a doctor would misuse his healing arts, but they yearn for the opportunity to use their gift to help others. These people, the ones who have been blessed with the gift of aggression and a love for others, are our sheepdogs. These are our warriors.
One career police officer wrote to me about this after attending one of my Bulletproof Mind training sessions:
“I want to say thank you for finally shedding some light on why it is that I can do what I do. I always knew why I did it. I love my [citizens], even the bad ones, and had a talent that I could return to my community. I just couldn’t put my finger on why I could wade through the chaos, the gore, the sadness, if given a chance try to make it all better, and walk right out the other side.”
Let me expand on this old soldier’s excellent model of the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We know that the sheep live in denial; that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire alarms and fire exits throughout their kids’ schools. But many of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their kid’s school. Our children are dozens of times more likely to be killed, and thousands of times more likely to be seriously injured, by school violence than by school fires, but the sheep’s only response to the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or harm their children is just too hard, so they choose the path of denial.
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours.
Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn’t tell them where to go, or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports in camouflage fatigues holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, “Baa.�
Until the wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog. The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those clinging, sobbing kids off of them. This is how the little lambs feel about their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door. Look at what happened after September 11, 2001, when the wolf pounded hard on the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently about their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Remember how many times you heard the word hero?

One of my Nam Vet buddies from the VA is coming with me on the 17th. He enlisted with his 1st cousin in 1964. Both went to the Nam. His cousin’s name is on the WAL. My bud was the last family member to see him alive, and the first to see him dead.
He unzipped the body bag of his cousin to say goodbye (he had the misfortune of doing battlefield to mortuary runs). Big mistake. The VC had field gutted him, after stabbing him to death several dozen times. He never told his family.
John Kerry never told that story, did he?

My father and uncle served in Vietnam and I lost a 2nd cousin there. I and my brother served proudly as Marines. Two of my cousins have served in Iraq with one volunteering to go back for his 2nd tour. I am a 100% disabled combat vet and I will be in DC.
Now if this makes me poor white trailer trash then I am Damn proud to be poor white trash and will stand with the rest of the hicks and trailer trash.

Who do realize what exactly is at stake; not just in DC on the 17th, but in fighting this war on terror and leaving Iraq able to defend itself both politically and militarily, despite Al Qaeida’s and Iran’s ceaseless attempts to keep that country hostage in a killing field.
It is in their best interest to do so.
They learned well the lesson of Vietnam.
That the soft, protected, intellectually progressive underbelly of America will always turn the other cheek.

And these same “educated fools” still look in the mirror and believe, absolutely believe, they are not only doing the right thing; but that they must do more to undermine the troops moral, and to twist the truth to turn those same soldiers into the Enemy of the world; when the absolute opposite is the truth.
Truth is the first casualty of their ideology.
Truth cannot be tolerated; it must be mocked.
It must be twisted so that those who raise their babies to be suicide bombers of innocents, are some how elevated to “Ghandi status”, and those who plan to subjugate the world, to murder all we “kuffar” … are merely resistance fighters, righteously rallying against the “American Aggressor”.
We are not the aggressor.

Our troops knew that in Vietnam, as we fought and won the largest Battle of the Cold War.
Our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq know that now; as they fight an enemy so full of hate they turn their own children into bombs.
Bombs they use on their own people in hopes of swaying good Americans to their “cause” by the insanity of mass murder.
A cause espoused by a Dark Ages false God, who demands the blood and the death of our whole civilization in the names of “Muhammad” and “Allah”.
In the name of an Islamic Caliphate, a Caliphate of hate, hostile to the death towards America, Israel and Western Europe.
They cannot hope to defeat us militarily; but hope to do so with those among us who see all war as an unnecessary evil.
Who embrace the non defensible strategy of surrender and retreat.
Those who would keep on surrendering and retreating until, finally, what is left of their ideology, and tattered mentality of appeasement, finds itself between our ruined cities and the shore of an ocean that would be their last and final retreat.
I just read this whole thread, top to bottom, and though I have had my say on here before; what I just read could not have been said any better.

It would be understandable if you guys just sat back and let the troops taste some of the disrespect you undeservedly received years ago.
