An excerpt from an article written by Kevin Ferris at the Philadelphia Inquirer:
For Kathy Mizner, 58, Saturday was a “fantastic day.” Mizner’s father served in World War II. Her husband was in Vietnam. Her son in Iraq. Like Kirlin, she rode the bus for D.C. that Hill had organized. To get to 30th Street Station for the 6 a.m. departure, she left her home in West Deptford at 4. Mizner is usually “scared to death” to drive on ice- and snow-covered roads, but this was important to her. “We’ve always been true to the flag and our troops,” she says. “That’s how I was raised.”
“To be with true heroes, the Vietnam vets and the kids in uniform still serving, to give them a kiss and to say, ‘God bless’ . . . money can’t buy the feeling it gave me to do that for them,” she says.
As a marshal helping to ensure order, Hill heard plenty of angry exchanges, with neither side holding back. He recalls one protester marching by and yelling, “You don’t support the troops!”
The vets fired back: “We are the troops!“

Mr. Ferris,
Thank you for your report on the Gathering of Eagles. So much of the main stream media ignored what actually took place March 17, 2007.
Though it is difficult to understand how anyone could simply ignore nearly 30,000 vets and other concerned citizens, we were.
Your report caught the essence of why we were there perfectly. We weren’t there to bash heads or prevent the ANSWER mob from marching.
We came from every corner of the country, at our own expense, to protect our sacred war memorials and show support for the troops and their mission.
WE came feom BELIZE, CEN AM…1 NAVY–1 MARINE. And we met VETERANS that came from farther away than us. So it can be said that we had an International GATHERING oF EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I belive its more inportant than ever for the vets and the true support the troops folks to make thir voices heard. After this fridays shamful vote in the house i have been emailing every one who would listen a good site to get email address is Conserative Caucus they have a tool box with many useful email address stay strong we will save this country of ours . Ilove this country and feel ashamed of some of our leaders.
Rod, please consider being a coordinator, and/or recruiting others to serve in a coordinator/leadership capacity. Thanks.

Coop - Is an additional goal of Gathering of Eagles to also get politically active in addition to active in protesting/rallying? Personally, while I support the protesting/rallying goal to counter the anti-America, anti-Capitalism, anti-military, pro-terrorist, pro-Communist leftist groups, I believe the only way to have a true impact on our government policies is to make our voices heard in Congress with letters, e-mails and phone calls.
If people were willing to drive hours and hours to protest, I don’t think it is asking too much to get those same 30,000 people to spend a few minutes each day to write, e-mail and/or place a phone call to their local and national representatives.
If that is what you are looking for in terms of coordinator/leadership capacity for States, I am on board. I already have a pretty good networking group of people at work as well as those who read my blog. I believe that in addition to countering the leftists’ protesting tactics, we need to counter their letter-writing to Congress tactics as well. It seems as though the Democrats are following their marching orders from Moveon.org and CODEPINK and the cut-and-run left, but we seem not to have given the GOP in Congress the spines for them to stand up to the Left’s nonsense and do everything in their power to block cut-and-run legislation and call out the Dems on their treason. I don’t know if the GOP just does not have the spine, or if they don’t believe in the war effort that much but are simply doing what the Party tells them or if they simply are not hearing from their constituents telling to them to get off their asses and start being leaders in this war on Islamic Totalitarianism.
But anyway, rambling aside, if Gathering of Eagles is also getting involved with the necessary step of Gathering Eagles to contact their Congressmen, I am on board and will do what I can to lead in my area of the country.
Ok, its 2am here and I seem to be alone in here tonight… so the mind wanders…

that is exactly the way i felt also. I have to go. took us 81/2 hours to get to my daughters house in va. a trip that usually takes 4 hours. roads were horrible. But I had to go
Returned from the G.O.E. at the Wall and I spent one hour with a reporter from my home town county newspaper, The Brunswick Beacon, in Shallotte NC, she was happy to hear the true news she did not get from AP,the MSM, or Fox News. I will be lineing up Civic groups and Vets Orgs to speak to them about the grass roots efforts to speak out for our troops and the freedom of our country. I suggest you contact your local news media, you may find as I did there is a glimmer of hope in the darkness we call the News.Next time I will offer a free ride, and a pancake brackfast, to anyone who needs a ride to a G.O.E. event in our area,if we all bring a person. or two, we can plant more seeds in the mud of this growing grass roots movement.
I agree George, my local newspaper let me write the whole article word for word and printed it (even the part about media bias).
The local media may be our best bet for now…

I hope the new leadership of G.O.E. will contact the Swift Boat Vets to ask them to share there battle plan to meet the MSM on the issues we now face in a up hill battle, they not only did a super job during the last election,they also showed us how to get the media to turn around and get our message, like it or not, I know it cost big bucks to run political ads but what ever the cost I beleive if we all share the cost it will well be worth the effort. I for one will be willing to use Pay Pal to get our message out to others who will aid in growing the grass we planted in the mud in DC. What say you?
Well now the lebs in the senate have shamed us .I for one will not forsake our young fighting men and women. If we are not able to get our voices heard this time maybe we are going to become the losers the left want us to be. How do we even ask a country to stand with us in the furture if we run away this time? Its painful but apparent that the British are not the power of yesterday thats what liberals do to a proud nation, we are in this as the only power thats able to confront these bastuards.
Hey all, I was a the GoE on 17 March to show my support of the good guys. whoever runs this site is doing a GREAT job. I come here a couple of times a week mostly to just take a look and see waht is being said. However, I have a question, would it be OK with everyone, or the person in charge, whoever I need permission form to notify the readers of the blog I post to (paulieworld.com/commons) about any up coming events you may have planned. If not that’s cool too. It’s just that the web master at paileiworld was an Army Lieutenant (Ranger Trained) and a few of the readers are Rangers (Ret.), or other retired military. Anyway Thanks for what you are doing for the troops, and thanks in advance for answering my query. The Swamp Fox.
