Statement From the New Chairman of GOE, Captain Larry Bailey, USN (Ret.)
March 29, 2007
Thank you, Harry Riley, for the magnificent job you have done in getting “Gathering of Eagles off to such an astounding start. Without you, the job wouldn’t have been done so well. You were just perfect for the job at hand, and America is in your debt. Thanks again.
Eagles, this has been one amazing trip, and it ain’t over. Just thinking about how swiftly thousands of patriotic Americans came together and assembled at The Wall in Washington blows my mind.
Harry Riley and I spoke by telephone in late January or early February and agreed that Jane Fonda’s and Cindy Sheehan’s March on the Pentagon was not going to be given a free pass as Fonda’s was in 1967. Less than two months later, thousands of us demonstrated that the leftists were not going to dominate US policy like they did in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
This time, America was going to register its disapproval, and, by goodness, WE DID! The tens of thousands of us who gathered near The Wall to protect that sacred memorial sent a resounding message to Fonda, Sheehan, and Code Pink that we will NOT stand idly by while the honor of our defenders of freedom is besmirched.
We honestly planned to be a “One-Note Charlie and go home after registering our disagreement with the America-hating crowd that sullied the ground of our nation’s capital. However, the impact of the victory we experienced made us thirsty for more of the same.
It is therefore with great pleasure that I confirm to all of you that we are here to stay. We don’t know exactly what we will do or when and how we will do it, but you can be sure that America-loving patriots are going to be proud to be a part of our effort!
We intend to go on the offensive or defensive whenever our “kitchen cabinet of Eagles from across the nation decides collectively that a time for specific action has come. We are currently looking at a major “Support the Troops gathering back in DC over the Memorial Day weekend in conjunction with “Ride to the Wall, “Free Republic, “Rolling Thunder and other like-minded organizations.
Having tasted victory on St. Patrick’s Day 2007, we intend to make a diet of it. Stick with us, and we will work miracles.

AMEN, BROTHER!!!!!! Count me in! I cannot tell you how GREAT this is! It’s about time ‘we’ were pro-active rather than re-active. The Memorial Day Gathering is a wonderful idea. It will be interesting to see if ‘they’ will attempt to interfere, counter, or stop this gathering! We put the US in USA!
Captain Bailey,
It was an honor to stand with The Eagles on 3/17 and
will be an honor to do so again. Our crew from Doylestown
PA will be with you all the way.
Semper Fi,
Doc Leeds
TO: CAPT BAILEY, WE WERE HONORED TO BE AT GoE ON 17MAR07.GoE CALLED US TO ACTIVE DUTY AND WE REPORTED. CALL US TO ACTIVE AGAIN AND WE WILL BE THERE. 1 NAVY–1 MARINE…in BELIZE, CEN AM SEMPER FI
It’s about time we band together and show our numbers. I missed the gathering on St. Patricks day due to a snowstorm in PA and I am glad to hear there will be another opportunity for me to support the troops and veterans.
Captain Bailey,
The honor was mine to stand with so many like minded patroits. The Xenia Ohio boys will be there in even greater numbers next time.

Thank you, Doc. I was SO proud of the scores of folks who came down from your part of PA!
Looking forward to them ol’ Xenia boys joining up with us agin, Art! Thanks for getting the word out…
Harry,
Seems to me I saw a piece that said the GOE was going to support RT with a meeting on the 26th of May in the same place as the ANTI_WAR area? I have not seen info on our site? Or did I just miss it?

Captain - I echo your words to the Colonel and offer them to you, too! We needed a rallying point and you provided it. Let’s move on to our next objective - A massive, Pro-Troop and Their Mission Rally as soon as possible while the anti-America crowd is on their heels.
Bravo and Press on!

I’m NOT John Kerry, and I’m reporting for duty!
Think maybe we should March on the Capitol to protest the BS POS spending bills that the House and Senate put through to hamstring our armed forces?
Speaking on behalf of the EAGLES of Florida, we are at your service Capt. I already have reservations in Crystal City for RT, but if you decide where GOE is going to have their HQ, I will try and move into that hotel.
SouthernBoy,
A march from OUR memorials to the Capital in a sea of red, white and blue would be hard to miss, even for the media.
Deborah,
I think a march like that in concert with Rolling Thunder would generate the numbers to garner the attention. March on the Capitol! Tell the Congress of COWARDS how we really feel about their backstabbing the troops!!!!
Chris, I plan on marching to the Capital and I’m sure I’ll have lots of good company. I think Congress needs to see some patriotic Americans for a change. And along the way, we won’t be desecrating military memorials like the Lone Sailor, damaging recruiting offices, defacing Congressional offices or the Capital steps, burning American flags and worst or hanging senators and reps in effigy.
I’ll commit to not doing all except the last one!
Would be great to march again and maybe surround the traders that have set up their camp in front of the capital building. Lets see how they respond to that !!!!
roflmao Coop…notice it was last on my list….I had to think long and hard before I added that part.
Im all for burning the bastard Hagel in effigy along with that *&&$#* Pelosi! Reid burning would be a bonus!
COOP,
If you are not going to hang them in effigy, does that mean you will do it for real?
(Please don’t do that. I’m a criminal defense lawyer, but I’m not licensed in D.C.)
Re-read, Counselor! I didn’t say I wouldn’t hang them in effigy. I am, shall we say, noncommittal on this point.
But I’ll keep your services in mind, just in case.
From what I understand, lawyers are a dime a dozen in D.C. because waivers are so easy to get. (Whether that applies to criminal defense, I dunno.)
OK, I’m curious. Is the GOE going to address any issues of importance to our veterans? Or are we just going to thump on our chest and avoid the issues that could make a real differance? How about it, Capt Bailey. Where does GOE stand on Mandatory Funding for the VA? Or protection of veterans benefits from third party awards in civil courts? Does the GOE have any possition on these issues? Or the USFSPA? I pray to God that the GOE isn’t another toothless organization. I, like many others, are very concerned about the new leadership and direction. If the GOE truely supports our troops, the GOE would take on issues on importance to them.
First, Jere, I would like to welcome you to our forum. Nice use of the word “we.” Yeah, that REALLY convinced me! ROTFLMAO!!
Concerning veterans funding, it is very important to people like me and I’m sure Larry Bailey, too. I imagine he’s as pleased as me that the funding has basically doubled since President Bush took office. Not bad, huh? But, as of course we al know, there are other veterans organizations taking the lead on such issues.
Had we really been in attendance on the 17th you wouldn’t have the nerve to come up with the toothless and chest-thumping garbage.

Is there a date set in stone yet? On 3/17, I was only there for a short time. I would like to plan better this next time…:)
I have had the honor of being friends with Col. Harry Riley for over a decade now. I have always known him to be a strong brother in the Lord and a great leader. I have watched him continuely come down on the side of righteousness in every circumstance. He is a faithful brother and a good man to go to the river with.
I met you, Capt. Bailey at GoE I in March and was much impressed with you sir. I look forward to continuing to serve with you. I am asking all believers in GoE to pray for the Lord to give all of our leadership the spiritual wisdom and understanding to lead us.
I pray we will be used to bring America back to the goals of our founding fathers.
God Bless you sir and if you need me,
I remain For the Lord and His servants.

Gathering of Eagles II (is in work)…
Statement From the New Chairman of GOE, Captain Larry Bailey, USN (Ret.)Gathering of Eagles II is coming…BE THERE!!!
Thank you, Harry Riley, for the magnificent job you have done in getting “Gathering of Eaglesâ€? off to such an astounding start…..
First, I offer the same support to the Captain I did to the Colonel! I hope Col. Riley passes on the Intel.
Second, Memorial Day is a great time. It will be the seventh anniversary of my first death due to a wonderfully entertaining heart attack.
Third, I need assistance in getting there. Wheel Chair, scooter, truck. Maybe I can get the wife to tag along since it’s a holiday week end, but if not, Orange Texas is on IH-10 at the Sabine river and I am flexible as hell on any itinerary! Personally, an overnight stay one the run would make it easier on me. However, that ain’t necessary!
I have screwed up legs hips and back incurred during as well as 20% of a functioning heart. Momma won’t let me leave home that far with out some sort of adult supervision.
Finally, a linier email I just sent to my personal email veteran group. It rambles and I am hurting some today due to the weather and a fall.
Carp! I have had some pute problems and set it to delete emails as soon as sent. I’ll have someone send it back to me and post earlier.
As to being beat up some, I can take care of myself just fine. I just can’t do all that driving and walking and contend with the heat. I was to slow and to late for March. I won’t be for May!
I’m not asking anyone to split anything or change my diapers. Just help me with the road miles and loading and unloading my chair.
Smokers welcome!!!
Bikers welcome. I can hook up the low boy!
That’s room for four; I have a Dodge Hemi Truck.
Finally, Coop, I’ll bring my Zippo, Ronson and some rope! I think I like you already. Which is somewhat unusual. I generally don’t like anyone!
If I can assist in any way, plug me in!!!!

Larry,
It was my honor to meet you at the “Orleans” restaurant the evening of the 17th after our glorious victory over the scumbags.
Its also good to know that you and I have in common hunting down wannabes and embellishers.
I look forward to standing side by side with my Marine Brothers and other Veterans and doing battle with the Sheehan/Sheen/Fonda/Kerry/Penn cowards, and their followers…….
I do feel that the GOE needs to do a “Stand Alone” march to either the Capitol or Pentagon to see if the Dark Side has the cajones to come out and “Counter Protest” us……..
On November the 10th, there is a 25th Anniversary of the Vietnam Wall Memorial Parade….that might also be a good weekend to organize a march in support of our troops and their mission.
Hand Salute to all who served and Welcome Home and Semper Fi to all Nammer’s……
Vermont’s on board with you Capt. Bailey! (even if it is just me still!)
Rev Ed has hit the mark. Capt. Bailey, Col. Riley, GOE leadership and members are in my prayers. My God Bless All for your past, present and future service to God and country.
Sir,
1SG Walt reporting for duty on Memorial Day in DC. I really like the idea of supporting/coordinating with RT and the other grassroots vets groups.(Plus, RT usually gets a lot of press coverage.) Most of all they showed up in large numbers on the 17th. And, well, “jointness” does work out well, sometimes, or most of the time when the thickheaded groups are knocked around and finally realize that working together will benefit all.
Looking forward Op Order re Memorial Day
Thanks to all who are standing up to protect our troops and country. I would highly suggest that we take this fight to the Hill and show that American does care what are elected officals are doing and we are in disagreement with their actions. We need to be united in this fight and show those who claim to represent us, but only take our money that we will not let them sell us out to those who would destroy us.

I think I can also speak for Chris (Sebolt) in saying The Michigan GOE is on call and rarin’ to go, for the DC rally in May! We may even meet up with the All Americans MC (Grand Rapids,MI) and make it a convoy to DC! Eagles Up! Radar
I’ve known Larry Bailey since the Kerry Lied Rally in DC. I’ve been to his home, and met his much better looking wife.
Through the Kerry era and our attempt to dislodge Murtha he has done it right.
Col. Riley was (and still is) the right man for the job he enlisted for. His stepping aside should not be given undue emphasis, his reasons are valid and his own.
No one should confuse growing pains with a lack of resolve. The form GoE may take remains to be seen, but supporting our troops and their mission will be paramount or I will not longer be involved.
Me aside, think of it as just multiple targets out there. We may not always agree on the immediate selection, but we do know the targets that need to be dealt with.
Capt Bailey
I’m With GOE to support our troops, march on the capitol and http://www.bootmurtha.com on the way.
GOD Bless the EAGLES!! Anytime, Anywhere!!!

The GOE is the right organization at the right time. I’m proud to be a part it. May God bless Captain Bailey and our mission.

Capt. Bailey,
Doug Hastings, SGM, USA (Ret) stands ready with many others in Georgia to confront the “enemy within” whenever and wherever the GOE deems necessary.
I personally was never a hero, never fought in any great battles, and most of the time probably was not even a very good soldier. But in 27 years service I met a lot of great men and women who were all those things and I lack the words to describe the feeling in the pit of my stomach when I see the anti war faction burn the flag or a soldier in effigy.
When I saw Murtha’s crocodile tears on the house floor when they were passing the vote to undermine the troops, and I listened to his voice as he said they were going to bring those troops home, I wanted to slap him silly.
Then I remembered he already is silly. He is a traitor in every sense of the word.
We must never be silent again. We who understand the sacrifice that servicemembers and their families make to serve this country must never let them stand alone again as done in Veitnam.
Some media outlets claim that the only “counter demonstrators” that were there on the 17th were disgruntled Vietnam Vets who were still resentful over how they were treated during and after Vietnam.
Wrong - wrong - wrong! I am not at all resentful of how I was treated. I dont need anyones forgiveness for or understanding of my Vietnam service. I am proud of every day I was able to be of any help to my fellow soldiers. I am resentful as hell about how the media, the congress, and the communist/socialist demonstrators acted and what they did. The Cronkites, Fondas, Kennedys, Kerrys, and Haydens sold out the troops and brought shame and dishonor to the United States.
Nothing has changed except a few names but it is still the media and hoolywood; The Blitzers, Penns, Pelosis, Reids, Pellys (60 minutes), Sheehans, and A.N.S.W.E.R. Traitors each and every one.
I agree with the previous post that we need a stand alone march. I am making reservations for Doubletree Hotel Chrystal City for Memorial Day weekend.
I and many Georgians, (Americans) stand ready to be seen, be heard, and to take this country back! Keep it non political, mission focussed and we will be wherever needed.
God Bless our Servicemen, God Bless the Eagles, and God Bless America.

These posts are great. It is so awesome that our group of Patriots are finally gaining strength and looking for marching orders.
As a kid I witnessed the anti-war demonstrations in Miami in 1972. These idiots are well entrenched. Now its time to smoke em out and let them have no doubt the Eagles are looking for our country back.
Thanks to all the veterans that I met in DC the 17th. God bless you all.
I am ready to roll anytime anywhere!!

First and Foremost,
I would like to thank the Eagles for allowing me the opportunity to stand with them on the 17th. After seeing the amazing display of patriotism and camaraderie (that dwarfed all of my earlier episodes of counter-protesting) created a swelling of pride in my heart at the nature of our people, the American people. Granted some misguided miscreants, and full out traitors were marching with the Fifth column Marxists, but the brothers and sisters who stood around me reminded me just how amazing this country, and the many veterans who continuously show there fervor for America, is the greatest nation on the planet.
I enjoyed every moment of that momentous occasion. The life lessons and experiences that I engaged in, or watched, will always be cherished in my memories until the day I am no longer graced with walking G_ds green earth…
Col. Riley Thanks for all the help…I would not have been able to stand with you, unless you had all that dedication.
Capt. Bailey, I look forward to working with you in the future…I hope to continue my friendship with fellow Eagles, and look forward to more gatherings of integrity, honor, and patriotism.
I WILL STAND WITH YOU!
I will have to buy more “war” paint though…I used my last bunch up on the 17th.
Talk to you soon
Pitt Bull
PS. Hey DOC, and Tyrone, it was great meeting you…and Doc try not to scare any of those kids at the concerts…you might damage their poor little Death Metal inner psyches… LOL!
Hello Capt. Bailey,
This gargantuan GoE activity ought to shake the likes of Pelosi, Murtha, Reid, Schumer etc… Just think, if it’s bad now, if they prevail in ‘08… heaven help us.
I think those recalcitrant mullahs in Iran could use some straightening, don’t you?
My prayers and best wishes for your great endeavor.
Ruben C. Gaspar
I was recalled to service in 04 with the Swiftboat Veterans/POW’s for Truth. In January 05, Adm Hoffman ordered us all to stand down, but keep ourpowder dry in case kerry makes a 08 run. We all know that kerry can’t run, but why waste all that good gunpowder? My enlistment from 1964 is still active and I and the Vietnam Veterans of South Florida are proudly at your service for the duration.
We invite all who read this to attend the 20th annual Vietnam AND ALL Veterans Reunion in Melbourne this year. Contact me for more info. GOE will be there set up and active.
A sharp hand salute to you, sir, and looking forward to seeing you at the reunion.
Eagles UP!
Memorial Day weekend? Perfect. I’m already planning to be in DC over the holiday.
With great pleasure I will stand with any Gathering of Eagles, any where, any place, any time.I plan to bring at least two others, if we all do the same we will grow the grass seeds we planted in the mud at the Wall on March 17 07, the best birthday of my life, with all who attended. Thanks for having me.
Ready to go anytime you all are
Capt. L. Bailey- great seeing you again and beating the enemy communist…
A chicken hawk is a HAWK and its favorite prey are chickens. Appropo I think…seeing that the moonbats are yellow chickens, cowards. Members of my group have been putting our wreath on the Wall for the past several years. We are turning out more this year ’cause of the anniversary of the Wall. Will be looking for all of you then. We will be easy to spot. We will be wearing the kilt. I will be wearing the “Leatherneck” tartan. Eagles up and away….!
Semper Fi
To all the female troops serving in combat in the sand box I wish to say a special thanks, and to tell you just how proud we are of you who take up arms to defend our nation. As a Vietnam Vet I stand humble now, and at the Wall on March 17 07, and promise I will never forget you, and your courage. You are at war, a large percentage of America is at the Mall. May God bless each and every one of you brave ladies and hold his loving hand over you and bring you, and your buddies, home safe to those who respect you,and love you, I offer you my respect and I look forward to shakeing your hand at a Geathering of Eagles stand up for America event upon your return. For now take cover and return fire.
My letter to Editor of Alexandria Gazette
In your previous article on the Mar 17 ANSWER March to the Pentagon, you mentioned that some counter-protesters were Vietnam Veterans and numbered approximately 200. I let it go initially because it was evident that you were not there and used some of the figures given to you probably by the ANSWER crowd. In the March 29 issue Mr. Tony Teolis’s (Veterans for Peace) Commentary mentioned the number again. I was there and it was not 200 Vietnam Veterans. It was more like 8 to 10 thousand or more Veterans and their families. They came not to counter the ANSWER protest but to protect the War Memorials. In the previous war protest, the Capitol steps were painted and the Navy Memorial disrespected. The rally point for ANSWER was next to the Vietnam Memorial (The Wall). Veterans came from all over the country when called by a newly formed organization http://www.gatheringofeagles.org (GOE). The war memorials were protected Friday night by the veterans and during the day by the police. The GOE had a rally Saturday morning with numbers of speakers. If you were there you might have noticed the thousands of US Flags. These flags were gathered from citizens across the country by http://www.moveamericaforward.org when they caravanned from California to DC holding rallies in 25 cities. These flags are now being sent to the Troops in IRAQ an Afghanistan. The only American flag I noticed in the Answer crowd was one upside down being dragged on the ground. After the rally we vets visited and had a great time. There were so many Vets that came that our mission changed when we saw the ANSWER crowd. There were a number of foreign country flags. Most of those in the ANSWER crowd hate America even in times of peace. We Vets reformed into counter protesters.
Mr. Teolis mention his 200 VFP but we hardly noticed them. I doubt very seriously his account of possible bad behavior of the Vietnam Vets because we are very aware of bad behavior against our Troops by our own experiences when we returned from Vietnam. We honor the service of the VFP but we disagree. The resolution to go to war in 2003 was passed with support from 82 Democratic Congressmen and 29 Democratic Senators. This made it America’s War and America should never vote to send her men and women to war to lose again. Regardless of the change in heart of so many of our Democrat Congressmen and Senators, American can win. GOE is now planning a massive Support the Troop and their Mission Rally this Memorial Day in DC.

I will do my best, though. I promise.
By the end of the day, I hope to have posted on the website how I see us proceeding for the mid-term if not for the long term. With the passion y’all are showing me, I am starting to think about the impossible.

For those of you who may be interested, I just got my April 2007 edition of the “Limbaugh Letter.” In it is the following article, entitled “Democrats’ Dangerous Delusion: Americans want surrender” In the article, Rush Limbaugh talks about the “antiwar kook parade that marked the war’s four year anniversary.” He then quotes a New York Times article and goes on to say: “Those little pockets of “counterdemonstrators” were actually the 30,000 strong “Gathering of Eagles” - who outnumbered the kooks three to one according to the National Park Service. They weren’t foul-mouthed malcontents or paid mobs bussed in by unions; rather, they were a cross section of patriots.”
Rush goes on to talk about the “Eagles” and uses a quote from one. Our voices have been heard and, God willing, will continue to drown out those who seek our defeat.
Jon, I liked the quote from an EAGLE Organizer in the article, “[The large crowd] was a surprise to everyone except us…” Way to go EAGLES.
I’m on board for Memorial Day weekend, GoE II. Other Gatherings are ok, but it seems to me that DC is where our presence is needed to be seen the most. I’m from Nevada and I’m going to do all in my power to see that Reid looses the next election.

I’ll be in DC memorial day weekend to do my part.I’m in West Virginia. Anybody who wants to go along, get in touch.
