Interview With Lt. Jason Nichols From Appeal For Courage

March 30, 2007

Lt. Jason Nichols is a Navy officer in Baghdad who is the head of Appeal For Courage, a group of active duty, Guard, and Reserve troops who are appealing to Congress to finish the mission in Iraq. He was my guest tonight on The Front Line, and he had some specifically good things to say about Gathering of Eagles, calling it something that was highly motivational–”A lot of guys heard about it.”

He also had this to say:

“The Gathering of Eagles effort is one of the best things I’ve seen, and it really is a case of, in large part, Vietnam vets. I don’t think they are so much “supporting the troops” as they are actively fighting a second front on this war, and they have come out of retirement basically to go into battle again on a front of this war that is just as important for victory as what we’re doing here.”

If our brave men and women are willing to put their life on the line for us, the LEAST we can do is support them. It is just ashamed that in addition to the enemy, they have to be treated so abominably by their own citizens and members of Congress. To them I say, don’t trust what you see on the media. What they don’t show you are the millions of Americans back home that support you. And we far outnumber what you see on TV and in the NY Times and Washington Post.

I belive we can help the Apeal for Courage effort What I do is go to thie webb site down load the flyers and pass them out to the active duty on Travis A.F.B they are greatful and ready to sign up . Most that I talk to are unaware of this effort . As most of us they are busy doing thir jobs and not watching the threat from the LEFT its up to us to fight this fight at home. All of us have young ones in the service or at least know someone who is lets get this word to them.

My State Senator Cuccinelli distributed this song in his e-mail that sums up the courage of our Troops.

We made this first step in faith, believing it to be the right thing to do, GoE on 3/17/07, and it was.
Now we must carry that commitment to fulfillment.
Be no longer concerned with what the cost of such a commitment may be, but be focused on what the reward will be for your children and grandchildren.
An America that is stronger and better than the one my daddy left me.

The motto for the Vietnam Veterans of America (I’m a Life Member) is “Never again shall one generation of veterans forget another.” I believe it, I traveled 700 miles on 3/17 to “put my boots where my mouth was”! Our Brothers & Sisters, in harms way, have their back door covered, no matter the personal cost. Like the Padre said, it’s also for our posterity. We’ll leave them a stronger, prouder America to live in! Eagles up! Radar

Thanks Radar!!! I remember the homecoming my brother received in 1969 when he returned, and I vowed I would never forget what I saw that day. I also cannot forget the look on my mother’s face when former Pres. Carter pardoned those who ran. Now, more than 40 years later, I see the same faces and hear the same chants. This time, however, I don’t have to stand by, and you can be sure I do not. It is a great feeling to know that this time they can be soundly defeated. The siblings you guys left behind are adults now with an edge - we have already seen how these cretins work, and are well prepared for them this time around. It is comforting to know that there are seasoned vets behind us though!!

On my 67th birthday week end at the Wall with G.O.E.s I was given my greatest gift ever, by being given,in my life time, a chance to stand with so many brothers and sisters in arms in the cold and mud to stand up for our brave troops in combat in the middle east. It changed my life for the better and I will promise you who read this from the sand box I will stand for you, entill we can stand beside you. May God bless you, hold you safe and stand by your side as you fight for freedom, a gift from God to those who live without it. With Great respect and love.Thank you for your service, from a old Vietnam Vet.,who knows in his heart that you know you have great support here at home, and soon many more will step forward to voice there displeasure at the attempts to undermine your efforts to free a nation. There is no greater love then to give your life for another. Fight for your buddys first,we know you fight for us all.
