AAR: West Point Counterprotest

May 27, 2007

By Dan Maloney, NY State Coordinator
Edited by KJ

The West Point action occurred on 26 May 2007 in response to scheduled protests by antiwar forces at the commencement of The United States Military Academy Class of 2007. The action was meant to protest Vice President Dick Cheney, keynote speaker at the event.  The following is the official GOE After Action Report.

Notable Incidents:
1. One scuffle over a sign instigated by the protestors.
2. One moonbat tried to swipe one of our amplifiers to cut our sound.
3. One of the organizers on their side hit one of our ladies in the face with a sign. He then denied the action took place to the police. The incident occurred to one of our photographers taking pictures in their rally area and was not captured on film by any of us, and was out of Eagles view. A picture of the perpetrator will be publicized.

Highlights:
–Rockland County Coordinator Jim Ferguson and his son rigged a fifty foot American flag from a crane right at the corner of Veterans Park and West Point Highway, and we used this location to harass the gathering moonbats.

–We went inside the enemy group and offered poppies to honor our disabled veterans. We videotaped some of the responses but a surprising number were favorable and resulted in contributions to the VFW through us. Of course they had no idea it was Gathering of Eagles soliciting the donations.

–We had a small group, including myself, donning Code Pink disguises and stepping out ahead of their march with signs supporting our troops.

–As the trailing edge passed us by we marched down Main St on the median side. We actually entered the park and stood in front of their stage holding our banner while they tried to crowd around and raise their signs to cover it.

–Eagles were present from several states, and as far away as North Carolina.

Media Attention:

“But it was the appearance of the Gathering of Eagles group, and its supporters, that changed the tone of this year’s demonstration.” — The Record Online

DAN: When you were carrying that CODE PINK sign was it harder to keep from laughing or throwing up?
Can’t wait to see all the pictures you’ve taken this weekend.
Does GEORGE S. have any DUCKS left? HA!
We had a wonderful time in DC. Too bad we all couldn’t make it up there to give you all a hand, but sounds like you took care of business just fine.
Just saw on FOX that PRES. BUSH was talking to a few members of ROLLING THUNDER and also invited them into THE WHITE HOUSE for a visit. What an HONOR that is.

Don’t hold your breath for the same invitation MOONBATS because you’ll turn blue and pass out!!

The perp, Brian Becker, Head Commie from ANSWER, had a woman photographer physically harassed in DC at of all places, “Fredon Plaza”. So this is not the first time that Brian Becker has resorted to threats and violence against women.

  5. James La Grutta on May 27th, 2007 7:06 pm

I am a High School Senior who wants to comment on Saturday’s march. Six months after 9/11, President Bush at a Press Conference said in regard to Osama Bin Laden that he didn’t know where he was and that he was truly “not concerned” about Bin Laden. Here, he gave him a pass for the 9/11, and he is now where to be found. This is not in any way, shape, or form putting Clinton off the hook, but we don’t even know where Bin Laden is currently. Then,it was Bush who sent our troops into battle without the proper equipment and then cut over $28 million in Veteran health benefits. Now why isn’t his patriotism questioned? Where the HELL is the consistency? One last reminder: Let us not forget it was Ronald Reagan who helped put Hussein in power. Why doesn’t he take any heat from the Republican party?

  6. Raoul on May 27th, 2007 7:07 pm

Here is the URL to the report where Brian Becker and his henchmen used violence and intimidation against a women photographing their rally. It’s almost a duplicate except this time Becker did his own dirty work.

  7. tgsltakoma on May 27th, 2007 7:28 pm

Dan… Doctor Raoul has posted a link to a report about a similar experience I had with that same man (Brian Becker - [former?] Secretariat, Workers World Party, still an active commie).

Here is a link to photos from that event: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/74303905NDDqae

For some reason, links to the photos in the thread that Raoul mentions are dead, but the above link should work for you.

  8. tgsltakoma on May 27th, 2007 7:33 pm

Well, I don’t see Raoul’s comment, so here’s the link to the AAR from the day that Becker incited the “peaceful” crowd to beat me up. My crime? Standing quietly, no sign, taking photos:

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/917334/posts

Brian Becker is a violent man, verbally and physically.

Perhaps the woman who was his victim at West Point should file charges. By all means use my report and photos to show his history of violence.

West Point rally was something to remember for life !!

It was joy to be in Americas Home Town,…walking on holy ground…watching moonbats explode in the air as the eagles picked them off one by one !!

this must be the saddest bunch of moonbats to graduate from the eagles 12 step program on the subject of how to be nice in a public place.

They are all soo cute, you have a problem trying not to sceare them when you stand up at eye level and explain why there would be more room at the White House then on our holy ground.

I hear they spoil the view of eagles,. with all there buzzard feathers falling on the West Point Graduation.

Would I be bold to suggest we show up,..in very large numbers,.. and feast on moonbat BBQ ?,

You Northern Eagles are all super !!.

Hope to see you again,..often..with my pardner Larry Hoffa…must watch him, he like to play with the kids playing storm trooper with the moonbats day school children.

Bet you a moonbat they never put on a dog & pony show in Dec-Jan- Feb, like a bug they only come out in warm weather

The ANSWER wild woman was a hit in CT , but she had a real problem trying to fight off the downers.

JAMES LA GRUTTA: 1st- Which March are you talking about? 2nd- You have a lot to learn about the questions you are asking. Just from the content I can see that you’re picking and choosing what you want to, so it appears you already have your mind made up.

If you are really a senior in high school you need to keep an open mind and seek out the truth for yourself. To answer your questions fully would take up too much time and space on this thread. These aren’t Yes & No questions you’re asking. The only person I know that could come close to answering you would be SOAPBOX and i don’t believe he would want to attempt it. Hell, by the time he got through, he would have another Birthday…HA!

    Urban Infidel,

Becker’s brother Richard, crashed the GOE press conference at the National Press Club. At “Age of Hooper” there’s a great video of Richard Becker lying his ass off. When a reporter points out that he’s a communist, Richard Becker sez, “I don’t know anything about that.”

Look here http://www.pslweb.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Marxism101 and see the “Education Page” of The Party For Socialism and Liberation, the sonsor of the ANSWER front group. Note the Che and the red Star and the Hammer & Sickle on the banner in the photo. Look at all the classic definitions of communism listed in the right margin.

    James La Grutta,

Show me where there’s an actual cut. You just take the BS you’re fed and swallow it whole. The VA budget has NOT dropped. Graph it and and the actual money spent always goes up.

Have you graphed the veteran population and the forecast for the future? A lot of WWII veterans have passed on, some Korean vets are entering end of life.

So with less vets, there’s more per vet.

Now whether that’s enough, one could look at that. But this cut business is a lie. And don’t you hate Bush for lying?

I’ve graphed the numbers, you depend on someone else doing your thinking for you.

  19. Raoul Deming on May 30th, 2007 9:17 am

“Ronald Reagan who helped put Hussein in power. Why doesn’t he take any heat from the Republican party?”

Because he’s no longer alive? What do want us to do, dig him up and yell at him?

For a lib, you lack nuance and perspective and are so uncurious. At the time, aid to Iraq helped keep Iran in check. Let them fight so we don’t have to. Are there consequnces? Of course, everything has consequnces, even peace marches. You folks never took ownership of the 60’s peace marches. Millions of Cambodians died as a result, hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese died because you peace fraks cut off South Vietnam’s aid. Americans were out and you stabbbed them in the back. Boat people are a consequence of the “peace movement”. For everyone that made it, one died trying to get out. They drowned, straved, died from dehydration or murder at the hands of pirates.

Your Quakers, the American Friends Service Commitee defended Pol Pot. Their John McAuliffe went around claiming no genocide was taking place and that we didn’t understand their culture. That Pol Pot was just moving people to the countryside because that was where the food was. All while the Khmer Rouge went around killing people they found with glasses. Because glasses meant you could read.

If you marched with ANSER, Code Pink, UFPJ or World can’t Wait (Revolutionary Communist Party), you have the blood of innocent Iraqis on YOUR hands.

Raoul,,, I believe the figure is 3.2 million from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. And you can add 48000 American Troops that died (that blood is on the hands of hanoi jane fonda & john karry) after the left wing news media LIED, saying we lost TET68 and the American Embasy had been over run. NVA Gen VO CIEG was “ready to surrender until he read that lie. And convinced his men to hold out one more hour, one more day, one more week, one more year”. “that the American news media would keep the lie going”..and “he keep putting money into the anti-war movement”. Sound familiar. There is the true comparison of Iraq and Vietnam, nothing more, nothing less………”EAGLES UP”

It was a pleasure to meet with kindred spirits at the West Point counter-rally. We need more people who understand the real nature of the problem in Iraq, which is that we are really fighting with Iran and Syria and the battleground is Iraq. The way to win the war is to bomb Iran’s oil shipping facilities. Iran then will have no money to finance the terrorists and the war will be won.

  26. James La Grutta on May 31st, 2007 11:13 pm

Eagle members: I have read your wonderful comments; the march I was referring to was the recent West Point counterprotest on May 26th. Everbody remember one thing: we are going to have to end up paying for this war,in taxes, especially taxpayers of my generation. The party of “cutting taxes” should never support flushing away $8.4 billion monthly in Iraq, money that could be used for education etc. Now no way in Hell are Mrs Pelosi and the Dems off the hook either. The biggest mistake the Dems will make in ‘08 will be God forbid the nomination of Hillary Clinton. You guys better hope and pray for her,she is typically referred to as a “Lieberman Democrat” by many members of her party, including me Murdoch even held a fundraiser for her because of her Pro-War position. Ron Paul for Prsident!

    FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

Peacefully working to end failed war
    Jun 01 2007

On May 26, I planned on attending a peaceful rally outside West Point to hear representatives from Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against The War and Military Families Speak Out.

These fine people were on hand to help bolster our demands to end this failed war and to truly support our troops by bringing them home safely and providing them with proper health care and benefits upon their return.

Across the street was a group of about 12 called “The Gathering of Eagles.” I have never witnessed such hatred and foul language as what came from these people.

A few of them came over and were mingling in our crowd whispering obscenities, obviously trying to start a confrontation. Their tactics didn’t work. We gathered there to peacefully voice our concerns about this endless war, not for confrontation.

They were especially venomous when two Iraqi war veterans took to the stage to speak. With their bullhorn, they chanted their names and shouted abuses over and over to these two brave soldiers.

At one point I crossed the street and was immediately surrounded by a few from the Gathering of Eagles. A man standing behind me got great pleasure out of jabbing me in my left kidney numerous times, and I was verbally attacked. I would not repeat what was said to me; sewers are cleaner than what came from their angry mouths.

What a contrast it was between the two sides. Hundreds of peaceful people, including war veterans and parents of soldiers killed in Iraq, gathering in support of ending this insane war that has taken the lives of more than 3,400 American soldiers. Then there was a group of hatemongers trying to start trouble.

Gathering of Eagles should be ashamed of their actions on May 26. They were truly disgraceful.

Good work Kathy Devlin; you got guts girl. You and I will be on the White House enemies list very shortly, if not already. I wonder how much Rove and friends pay these certain Pro-War groups to counter demonstrations like the one last Saturday at West Point.

  29. Carolyn on June 1st, 2007 12:56 pm

james - what do you think about those flag-draped coffins that you had lined up on the side of the road leading into west point? the PARENTS who were coming to see their CHILDREN graduated had to drive by that hateful display of yours.

i am interested to see if you will address this issue - your other friends who are posting here have thus far refused to address this issue.

  30. James La Grutta on June 1st, 2007 2:27 pm

Carolyn-We were honoring the warriors who got themselves involved in a war so Bush and friends could get richer by the second while we get crapped on,so how the Hell does that represent hatred? Remember that the Bush girls are absolutes WHIMPS,to say the least, for their support of daddy’s policies and have served in Iraq for as long as I have (Never). I also can’t believe this so-called “Pro-Life President” is the one who supports dropping bombs on other countries for he and friends to get richer. O yea, tell Bush and Rove I said “Hi”

    James

  31. Carolyn on June 1st, 2007 3:11 pm

flag-draped coffins on the road leading into west point - on display for the PARENTS and you see that as “honoring the warriors”? that is quite bizarre logic.

    the military is voluntary
the west point graduates are quite intelligent

logically these intelligent people are making an informed decision. why on earth would you feel that it is your place to try and honor them at their graduation by throwing a bunch of coffins in the road??

it sounds as if your issue is with the washington crowd - perhaps you need to go there if you have something to say to them.

but then jim, we only folly here - we both know what your intent was at west point -

  32. James La Grutta (Burke Senior) on June 1st, 2007 9:19 pm

    Carolyn,

I understand we just “folly” here or at least most of us do. Sorry if my response seemed a little too personal. Although some people may not be lets say we did. However, Winston Churchill did say “If you’re twenty and not a Liberal you got no heart and if you’re not a Conservative a 40 you got no brains.” So far I have the heart, you never know, maybe by 40 I’ll have the “brains”. I would also like to apologize to the Eagles for the incidents last Saturday especially the poking incident. Anyway Carolyn, make sure Bush gives you a raise when you see him next.

  33. carolyn on June 2nd, 2007 9:45 am

jim- at least you do have a sense of humor. i have spoken with george about the raise but he has been rather busy and hasn’t gotten back to me yet.

Got something to say?
