Dear Moonbats

Dear Moonbats,

After driving for 11 hours to get from rural Johnston county North Carolina to Highland Falls New York, I find myself standing on a sidewalk in near 90 degree sun with sweat running down the insides of my sunglasses. I’ve had nothing to eat for 17 hours, and only 2 cups of sorry gas station coffee. I’m thinking that if there were no moonbats, I’d be at home right now - grilling steaks.

I’m also thinking, didn’t you people promise to move to Canada after the 2000 and 2004 elections? Yes, you did. And yet, here you are at the gates of West Point Military Academy. On Memorial Day weekend. Behaving badly.

And that’s why I am here also, along with my brother and sister Eagles, because you are incapable of learning from foul mistakes. I have learned much from mistakes, both yours and mine. I–no, we– are here to stand against you.

I was 12 years old in 1968. I watched you behave badly then. I watched you protest war without any regard for the cause, purpose or necessity of the war. I heard your demands for the end of the war without any regard for the consequences of abandoning allies and leaving them to die. I witnessed the treatment of our soldiers when they returned home from battlefields. I saw men that had fought in the name of their country, wounded and maimed for the sake of their countrymen, come home to be greeted by screeching hordes of you ‘peace’ makers who called them baby killers and spat on them - and worse.Later, I witnessed the fall of governments and nations that had been our allies. You and I both saw the slaughter of millions of people over there. Untold millions of Asian people died because of you and your loathing of your country. Thousands of great American veterans suffered through decades of shame and despair because of you and your sanctimonious demands for faux peace.Yet, I blame myself equally. After all, what did I do then to counter your ignorance? Did I offer argument to your insane rantings? Did I barrage politicians with my objections when they began to follow your lead and first started talking of defunding and withdrawal? Did I complain to the media networks when they offered daily biased reporting on a ‘failed’ war effort? Did I refuse to patronize the entertainment industry when so many of them left their souls behind to join in on the hating of America and everything American?

No. Just like the rest of the silent majority, I waited for the fad to end. Waited for all you leftists to come to your senses. Waited for you to finish abusing your “free speech and right to assemble.” Waited.

I waited right up until you started all over again with a new war to lose, a new set of young soldiers to spit at, new allies to betray and a new enemy to befriend.

So here we are at West Point. You are acting the same as you did then, repeating the same stupid slogans. You even seem to be wearing the same ugly clothing.

However, I am different than I was then. This time I’m not going to hesitate to use my freedom of speech and right to assemble. This time I’m going to be in opposition every time you choose to disrespect West Point Academy, recruiter’s offices, memorials, veterans or wounded soldiers.

You are the moonbat, I am the Eagle. I am and will be in your face.

    Dear NC Eagle,

You and other Eagles certainly have every right to use your freedom of speech and right to assemble. However, I saw no disrespect of the West Point Military Academy occur at this demonstration. I saw no disrespect of wounded soldiers nor of veterans. Indeed, one of the Eagles sold poppies to the anti-war demonstrators in support of disabled veterans and was quoted on these pages as being surprised by the number of demonstrators who made donations for the disabled vets. And I did not see any disrespect of memorials.

What I did witness, however, was abusive, verbal behavior committed against the anti-war demonstrators. I heard derogatory name calling directed at those who were demonstrated against the Iraq war and/or urging the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. I heard attempts to drown out speakers at the anti-war rally, including the parents of a soldier who was killed in Iraq. That to me showed the utmost disrespect and contempt for this family whose son had given his all.

That type of behavior does not speak well for the members of your organization, and I would hope it will cease.

    Hey little jimmy,

Have you ever been in the military? Sounds like you’re trying to deny REAL AMERICANS the right to exercise their FREE SPEECH; ARE YOU?????????

jimmy, if I were you, I wouldn’t mess with the Eagles. Do you know what Eagles do to rats??????

    Look it up!

  4. MikeBSuffolk on May 29th, 2007 7:26 pm

NC EAGLE: SURE DIDN’T TAKE LONG FOR A MOONBAT TO POP HIS HEAD UP, DID IT.

JIM, YOU SHOW DISRESPECT JUST BY SHOWING UP, BUDDY.
THAT’S WHY EAGLES SOMETIMES GET A LITTLE VERBAL, BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE ARE SO RIDICULOUS.

AS FOR THE LADY WHOSE SON WAS KILLED, MY HEART GOES OUT TO HER, BUT IS THIS REALLY WHAT HER SON WANTED HER TO DO IN HIS MEMORY?

IF YOU PEOPLE WANT TO DEMONSTRATE, WHY DON’T YOU DO IT AT THE CAPITOL OR DEM. & REP. HDQTRS. SHOW A LITTLE CLASS AND RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE PROUD TO SEE A MEMBER OF THEIR FAMILY ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING AND SERVE THEIR COUNTRY EVEN IF YOU DON’T AGREE. YOU DON’T NEED TO SHOW UP AT EVERY VENUE MAKING FOOLS OUT OF YOURSELVES FOR A CAUSE THAT IS NOT ONLY BASELESS BUT IS A WASTE OF TIME BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET YOUR WAY.

    EAGLES UUUP!!!

  5. carolyn on May 29th, 2007 7:48 pm

jimmy don’t try to pull your sanctimonious bs - you and your ilk were disgusting at west point. please look at the pics and you will see that you lined your flag draped coffins along the curb right in the road where the cadets families drove into west point. so, here are these parents on the proudest day of their lives, coming to see their children graduate from one of the mosrt prestigious institutions in our country and what do they see? your row of flag draped coffins - you who most probably could not hold a candle to their child, both in terms of intelligence and bravery.
YOU have the nerve to talk about respect?? you are foul and despicable

  6. USMCdaughter1 on May 29th, 2007 8:26 pm

Jimmy…Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy, I’m shaking my head here. Moral relativity does not apply in this case. Methinks that you all were just a bit peeved that you were denied a permit to go inside the gates so that your group could be even MORE disrespectful.

And yes I was there, so I saw the majority of the behavior first hand. Because there are those of us who are no longer 12 years old and are now armed with facts to shred your warped truths does indeed bode well for the Eagles. Lies are no longer tolerated when there is an Eagle in proximity. We countered each and every lie with facts and THAT is what you don’t like.

  7. Jim Bridges on May 29th, 2007 8:28 pm

Well, the responses I have received are hate filled. That is the same type of hostile attitude that was conveyed to the demonstrators at West Point. I guess you cannot stand it when someone verbally reflects what has transpired. Such saddens me.

Am I trying to stop your free speech? Not at all. You can vent as much as you want. But I do think it would help your cause to be aware of how you come across.

I believe the coffins which so upset you were an attempt to make vividly real the dangers that President Bush and VP Cheney are putting American soldiers under. I note that the actual flag draped coffins have been hidden from American press and photographers as they come back from the Middle East. That is a calculated attempt to limit awareness of the emotional costs of this war, at least on a national level. I have attended two military funerals locally of soldiers that I knew, and I continue to grieve for their families. There are more than 3400 young men who have not come back, men cut down in the prime of the life. We do not need any more for a senseless, purposeless war started by Bush and Cheney.

I ALSO PRAYED WITH A IRAQ VET FROM YOUR RANKS WHO COME UP TO SHAKE MY HAND. THIS MAN I RESPECTED THAT DAY. HE IS NOW & WILL ALWAYS BE MY BROTHER, REGARDLESS OF WHAT SIDE HE IS STANDING.
HE, I ACCEPT HIM AS ONE SIMPLE SOLDIER TO ANOTHER.

  10. USMCdaughter1 on May 29th, 2007 8:36 pm

Jimmy, do you forget that most of the Eagles ARE former soldiers? Convenient lapse of memory ???

And this war, it was started DECADES ago by the ENEMY. Put the blame where it belongs, we’ve been under attack for quite some time now.

I’m not taken in by the “saddens me” stuff, so save it for the media. Nothing was said here that is hateful, it was blunt and honest. Learn the difference.

  11. carolyn on May 29th, 2007 8:43 pm

Jim - you are attempting to obscure the issue by throwing up your tzlking point smoke-screen.
the issue is that you displayed flag draped coffins to PARENTS who were coming to see their CHILDREN graduate,
jim, think about that for a minute before you continue to read.

you attempted to cover up this inhumane act of yours, by throwing up a smoke screen of a bleeding heart emtional diatribe. 1) you are entitled to your views, but this occasion was neither the appropriate place or audience for an airing of your grievances, and 2) you contradict yourself when you say that you are concerned about the “emotional costs of this war”, and then you inflict emotional suffering on a group of parents.

jim- your real intent was to inflict emotional distress on both the parents and their graduates. your real intent is to try to undermine our military in any way that you can.

you are very easy to see through

I was 14 in the fall of 1968. Guess what was waiting for me. Can you say DRAFT? I had a very high lottery number in the last draft. This was the Class of 1972. We were picked in 1973. I still went into the Navy. I was 19 and sorta stupid. But after 20 years, I grew to understand one thing. Many of my own countrymen could not stand me. I volunteered during Vietnam and that made me an evil person. Some of my own classmates refuse to speak with me. Tango-Sierra. I showed up every day for 20 years. I note that the actual flag draped coffins have been hidden from American press and photographers as they come back from the Middle East.”

I’m done mincing words with you people. Jim, you sanctimonious asshole, WE are fully aware of the cost of war. WE have seen our buddies die in our arms, held them as they breathed their last breath, watched them disappear in the burst of artillery. WE know damn well what the cost of war is, and we don’t need assholes like you “reminding” us or pointing out the cost to us.

It’s time you idiots got a clue. If you want to make someone aware of the cost of war, go to your local shopping mall and display your stupid coffins. Take your anti-war brochures to the local theatre, where many blissfully unaware Americans hang out. Educate THEM.

The purpose of your coffins at West Point was to embarrass the parents of the graduates, nothing more. It is a despicable display of poor taste and inconsiderate behavior, something your ilk is quite familiar with. You make Fred Phelps proud, boy.

WE don’t take instructions from you. WE are men, forged in the fires of battle and the privations of service to our country. WE don’t need anything from you, certainly not your preaching. Go play with the childish minds and immature morality of your fellow travelers and don’t soil our forum with your excrement.

How they been throw’n piss bottles at brave soldiers and tell’n them to shoot their officers? Do ye need remind’n of the signs ye be carrying that say the only good soldier is a dead soldier? Are ye forget’n about this, lad?

Are ye efin blind as well as dumb? Go play your flute somewhere else, lad and stop foostering people’s time here, or sooner than later someone is going to give you a sound kick in the steever.

    Jim,

All those 3400 who nobly gave their tomorrows so that you could enjoy yours went voluntarily. Greater Love Hath No Man Than He Lay Down His Life For A Friend! You should remember who enables you to protest the way you do.

The behavior of your people was revolting. Several of the folks on our side were assaulted. Several folks from your side walked over in an attempt to provoke an incident. We have the pictures to prove it. I also was a witness to it!

What is there to say to people like you who disrespect our fallen Heroes? In Rockland I have heard your people call a Jewish War Vet a nazi and tell a Korean War Vet he was a baby killer.

You can always tell a leopard by its spots. You people talk peace but you sure push for conflict as demonstrated by your behavior at West Point.

Just remember, as you bad mouth your country and provide aid and comfort to the enemy, to thank the American Military for your freedom!

What is there to talk about? You folks just don’t get it!

    Jim Bridges,
What do you have to say about one of your organizers who openly hit me in the face with his anti-war sign at West Point? Of course you didn’t hear about it from your group. What was he going to do? Run around the ANSWER camp bragging how he just hit a woman in the face and then lied to the State Troopers about it? Not much to be proud of, is there? Ironically, he became violent when I calmly told him he had a right to protest and so did we and I had a right to take pictures. To which he responded with an expletive and smashed me in the face with the stick of his ‘peace sign’. So much for peaceful protest and tolerance.

  22. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 5:12 am

    Jim,
You are in the wrong place here. They want to be flattered and you are offering valid criticisms. We do have to remember that when we criticize, that neither group has a monopoly on virtue or vice. And they have to remember that we had our share of veterans at the demonstration. We also have our share of active service people who support our cause.

Perhaps the next time we offer some feedback, we should give them flowers first.

  23. Jim Diehl USN 65-71, Belize, Cen Am on May 30th, 2007 6:23 am

I don’t know what to say. It seems my fellow Eagles have just about said it all. So I’ll just ramble. In the last 18 days I traveled from my home in Belize to Atlanta to North & South Carolina to Connecticut to D.C… In my travels I have shaken hands, hug and talked with over 1000 active duty troops, 500 families, and 2000 Veterans. All true Patriots. All support the Mission of Gathering Of Eagles. As well as the over 500,000 in D.C. on the 26th & 27th. I was at the USCGA and I can’t understand why the moonbats would protest the people who lay there lives on the line everyday going out in weather in helicopters and boats no one else would consider to rescue jimmy’s sorry ass when his boat founders. Or rescues him and his family when he should have e-vac-ed in hurricanes and floods. And West Point the people who lay there lives on the line to protect his Freedoms that he thinks he earned…jimmy your association with the piss movement means you support the likes of Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Jihads. And we can all see what Chavez is doing in Venezuela. So jimmy boy coming to this site with your dribble is meaningless. Starting on 17th March, we got into cindy shithead’s face everywhere she went AND SHE QUIT THE PISS MOVEMENT. EAGLES we played a big part of that decision. And jimmy we will be in your FACE EVERYWHERE YOU GO. Until every last moonbat crawls back under there slimey rock……”EAGLES UP”

  24. kate on May 30th, 2007 7:52 am

Folks, while we enjoy it, I suggest stop feeding the trolls.

They, like Jim and his other sanctimonious buddy here, are trying to sound rational and polite to attempt to brush their entire movement with their strokes.

We have tried being polite, we have tried playing by the same rules that put some congressmen in the doghouse while others hide money in freezers and march for ages under a white sheet without consequence.

They have laid out the rules to this particular chess match decades ago and we are just late to the game in playing it their way. Sorry if that upsets them….wait, no I am not. Actually I am thrilled.

When we were at GOE I, my children were called such a variety of blue streak names it bordered on child abuse for me to have brought them….but they have been with moonbats before and we had a long talk about strength of arguement and how to treat people. They have been tutored well at the moonba’s knees that civil dialague is a trick they use when the cameras are on or in chat rooms to appear to be fine rational folk….

And they have seen what these people are capable of when the glare is off and they are letting it all hang out…they are profane, hateful and ugly.

I don’t regret the times I have exposed my kids to this because it is a more valuable lesson in person than I can teach them from a book….and it has stuck with them….

We have so much to do, so many things to plan, so many bullhorns to buy and events to attend….let’s let them tuck their panties back in without an audience and do the work we should have been doing for the last 40 years.

  25. Kit Jarrell on May 30th, 2007 7:56 am

    Mr. Day,

Just because you can offer a few token veterans as “proof” that your cause is just means nothing. You call us brownshirts, Nazis, and worse. Your cause, YOUR people, set the rules of this game many years ago with their hateful commentary, demeaning speech, and anarchy-loving actions. The fact that we had a bullhorn only annoys y’all because we were louder.

It’s all right. I know you guys aren’t used to being countered, or shouted down, or even confronted with anything less than quiet shame from those of us who actually get it.

Let me ask you this. How is it “free speech” when someone defecates on the flag in front of a crowd, but it’s somehow a horrific thing when we speak our minds about your actions? Since when are antiwar protestors the only people allowed to exercise free speech? If y’all support the troops so much, don’t you think they should get a chance to speak too? Most Eagles are veterans. Do they not have the right to free speech?

We’re completely cognizant of your right to protest. We’re also cognizant of our right to stand there every single time you do it.

You’ve been exercising your rights for a long time. It’s now our turn.

By the way…I’m not expecting an answer to my questions. I realize you guys aren’t capable of coming up with an answer.

What a wonderful day it is! Cindy has decided it’s time to go home seems she must have outlived her usefulness & therefore someone has shut down the money train. Students are rioting in the streets of Venezuela over the socialist actions of their “duly elected” president. How ironic is that? Just saw a student on the streets in Caracas stating that this was only the beginning of their movement and they would push forward for liberty throughout South & Central America. The French voters have rejected socialism, and Germany has elected a pro American leader! Is it just me or are our local socialist, marxist and communist wannabes seeing their idea of utopia collapse before their eyes. You are totally out of your league here. I had the great pleasure of meeting both carolyn and USMCdaughter1 on Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial.

This war is being extended by your hateful words about our fine soldiers, only encourage those who hate America. You are causing this war in Iraq to drag on and on by your enemy encouraging words. — AND the thing that really ticks me off big time is —

    — YOU ARE SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT YOUR ACTIONS AND WORDS ARE SUPPORTING THOSE WHO KILL OUR TROOPS… THE COFFINS YOU DISPLAYED ARE IN EFFECT TROPHIES OF YOUR ACTIONS AND WORDS — LIKE A DEER FROM A HUNT. — DISGUSTING —

Take a clue from your leaders Cindy Sheehan, and Ward Churchill — Now would be a excellent time to stand down and retreat, follow your leaders.

Moonbats have had their say, and hurt our country too much, drug this war out too long already, your time is over.

I hope that at the next GOE RT memorial day event, all 9 of us will be there.

As a side note, one of the highlights of this trip for my kids was to meet a WWII soldier who was at Normandy. They still do not quite get the impact of what that means (time to rent saving private ryan) but they knew enough to ask for this fine man’s autograph

I think I undersdtand why the peace movement and the liberal left are so mad.Since the early 60’s they have whined, cried, pissed and moaned about everything and the mainstream media along with them and the likes of Hanoi Jane and Cindy Shithead,Harry Reid,Nancy Pelosi,John Murtha pretty much most of the democratic party. These groups have giotten their way for over 40 years thier voices heard over true patriots and people that love this great country, now the times are changing and they are mad because GOE has made a difference they are being heard, vets are being heard and patriots from all over the country are now being heard. They are all mad because they aren’t in the limelight now to me they are just a bunch of attention whores and they are sniveling because no one is paying them much attention now.We have them on the ropes don’t let up,Cindy shithead quit who is next Jane Fonda?? Harry Reid? we can only be hopeful that they both quit.I think it is despicable for them to show up with coffins and it is repulsive and disgusting,as for the caskets of our dead soldiers not being shown that is done out of respect for the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines that made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. It is funny that people that have never served 1 minute in uniform know everything there is to know about the military and what it takes to serve in it, they also like to play armchair quarterback and they have the answer to everything.Just like John Kerry saying he would apologize to these muslim terrorists we are fighting, that is what they want it is a sign of weakness to them, we can’t do it and I am thankful that our Commander in Chief won’t apologize to them. Please Eagles don’t stop what you are doing your actions and your voices are heard here overseas it means lot to us that are serving overseas in the war on terror.

    Kit,
If you read my article carefully, you would realize that I said calling you Brownshirts was ethically and factually wrong–2nd or 3rd paragraph

What I did say was that there are disturbing similarities, in particular was the hostility and attempt to silence other views. We could add to that the prevalent attitude here is that yous guys view yourselves as superior to us “moonbats”, “racists”, “girly-men”, or whatever else you would call us at the protest. In addition, you attempted to interfere with our march and with our right to hear our speakers.

What I did say was that if you took your own hate-speech about us more seriously than you already do, this would lead to violence–which has already occurred in a mild form in D.C.–against us.

Finally, what allows you to have this hate-speech against us is that the behavior of extremists in the anti-war group seems to be generalized as if all antiwar protesters participated in or approved of the actions of a few. I certainly didn’t do that in my article about GOE. I specifically distinguished between those GOE members who provided a hostile environment and those who did not whom it was a pleasure to meet. I also said that neither group has a monopoly on vice or virtue.

  38. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 10:20 am

BTW, we have more than just a few veterans in the antiwar movement. We have many whose rank is from lowest to one of the highest. In fact, one of our featured speakers was a retired colonel from the Army.

  39. Raoul Deming on May 30th, 2007 10:40 am

    Jim Bridges,

Got stick those coffins where the sun doesn’t shine.

That is gross disrespect to those who have taken up the dangerous task of defending your rights by mocking them with coffins.

Let me make this very clear Jim, you are a grave robbing bastard. You understand that the public is grateful to our military members. That’s why you claim you support the troops too. You also understand that there is tremendous goodwill, sorrow and sympathey for the wounded and fallen. Those coffins are intended to steal that goodwill, sorrow and sympathy from the fallen and use it for your goals.

Did I mention you’re a grave robbing bastard?

  40. Raoul Deming on May 30th, 2007 10:47 am

    Jim Bridges,

I forgot to mention something. Something that’s been seen time and time again by us when you fakers use flag draped coffins.

Afterwards, you just threw around the flags, or flipped the flag draped coffins upside down. When you carried them, you were so reverential, so stone faced, so quiet. And that was all an act.

When that was over, you treated those flag draped coiffins as if they were the box your bottled water came in.

And that torture BS, what a crock. Just remember, when we put people in Orange Jumpsuits, they get panties on their head and led around on a dog leash. Nothing that Juim Bridges hasn’t paid good money for in some Upper East Side Manhattan S&M dungeon. Now of course, our soldiers won’t tell people, “You’ve been a bad boy” like Bridges’ dominatrix does. But they don’t charge 4250 an hour either.

Now the other side won’t put panties on your head. Why, because there’s no head to put panties on. Google “Nick Berg” if you need a clue Jim.

CD,,,I know for a fact that a good % of who you think are Veterans in your movement are not. They just shop at surplus stores. Like the one I photographed at the USCGA. He was to young to have the 5 rows of medals he wore. Check there DD 214. And verify with the Record Center in ST Louis. Another group of so called vets in your movement were the non-hackers who never left the States, had bad discharges or were sent back because they were a danger to others. If you are going to present them as combat Veterans you better check them out, or it’s just another LIE from your side of the streets……..,.,………. “EAGLES UP”

    Radio for Spiritually Inclined Liberals

…sets the tone for “Spiritually Speaking,” a radio show about religion and politics that Blumenthal and Belden cohost along with Reverend Jim Bridges on Vassar’s radio station, WVKR.

Blumenthal, Belden, and Bridges hadn’t met until they started “Spiritually Speaking” last summer. A colleague from the local chapter of Spiritual Progressives came up with the concept for the radio show. Spiritual Progressives, in which each of the hosts participates, is a nationwide interfaith organization that promotes social change based on a moral agenda other than that of the Christian right.

Also, let me know if you would like a child’s eye view of the experience….my kids were called future gestapo, nazis in training, and one answer guy charged across the street menacingly while grabbing his crotch screaming the aforementioned nicities…to little kids…

Now I could be wrong, he might have not been grabbing so much as searching for his tiny manparts, but we’ll never know.

As for looking up those who are not military, perhaps John Kerry and the Winter Soldiers can give us some advice on how they outed their imposters and publically humilated them…that happened, right?

We *are* superior to you, Curt. We don’t lie about America. We don’t support America’s enemies. Every time they accuse us of hate speech, we should celebrate. It’s a clear sign we’re winning.

  61. kate on May 30th, 2007 12:04 pm

    And so goes the deflection….

That’s okay, we each have our own style. I guess I approach the anti-war folks the same ways I tell my kids to approach bullies…you have to try and carve out a piece of the higher ground, show some class and self-restraint, don’t go whinning to adults for the little stuff…but if they push you too far, become violent or over the top in their verbal abuse, you are allowed to throw Roberts rules aside and enter the debate as you have been invited.

I have been to these events for most of my life, on both sides of the aisle as I come from a family of moonbats, whom I adore and respect though I think they are terribly wrong on most issues, I have seen the moonbat machine from the inside, and it isn’t pretty….

So, feel free to police us and continue to draw attention to our behavior, I have no problem letting the light shine on….I have come to expect that light to never be pointed in the mirror….Trent Lott says something classless and he looses power, Robert Byrd proudly dons a white sheet and it is just a long ago oops….

I feel sorry for those on the left that simply don’t reflect on what they have brought to the table and the social consequences of it….but, being blamers, it is all about us…

The narcissism of the left is as dizzying as it is pathological….

There is a book called Trapped in the Mirror…about growing up with, or being married to, a nacissist….when I put the book down, I suddenly saw the lefties with new eyes, and it even made me feel more than a twinge of pity for them…they just don’t see past themselves with real eyes, and yet jump up and down screaming, “look at me, look at me”

That’s a lie. The intention of the coffins is to play on people’s emotions and fool them into thinking the war isn’t worth the cost.

When’s the last time you displayed the 3000 coffins of the 9/11 victims? When’s the last time you complained about the murderers of Al Qaeda?

That alone exposes your lies and hypocrisy.

The reason the government “hides” the coffins is because they have respect for the sacrifices of those men, who WILLINGLY laid down their lives for this country. They know better than to expose them to the likes of you and your slimy ilk. They respect the families of those fallen soldiers enough not to expose them to your crass and uncaring exploitation.

Here’s a test for you. Name one soldier who you have “represented” with those coffins. Other than Casey Sheehan, who VOLUNTEERED to take on a dangerous mission to save his buddies and willingly gave his life in the effort.

    antimedia,
But the Right does lie about America because what they are covering or denying is what needs to be corrected about America.

Someone said that the left is narcissistic. But isn’t that a picture of the Right with its view of America and itself as its defender –the true Americans.

The Right lied about Vietnam. We should have never gone. You can complain about Pol Pot and so on, we are responsible for 500,000 to over 2,000,000 deaths of Vietnam civilians. Thus our problem with the Vietnam war was that we could never win the people because we killed so many of them. You cannot deflect our guilt by pointing to the sins of others. Our very entry, during Eisenhower’s presidency, was against the Geneva Accords which stated that the people of South Vietnam should decide whether to join the North. BTW, the leader of the North was an ally in WWII who helped our pilots.

We could point to other lies about America you promote. All of those lies cover our sins. Why? because to you to say that America has faults is the same as being Anti-american.

Our invasion of Iraq was illegal and immoral regardless of the immorality of Saddamn’s regime. We are fighting a preventive war, the kind condemned at the Nuremburg trials when Germany was on trial. We put Saddamn on trial for war crimes and neglect to admit that most of his worst atrocities came when we were arming him. The sins of Khomeini are provide no redemption for our sins.

We have overthrown democracies (Iran in 1953 and Chile in 1973 just to name a couple) so that we could benefit economically.

If you check my references to the Geneva Accords, they were not regarding detainees though we owe it to the detainees to treat them as dictated by the Geneva Convention. That is unless you are into venting and want to take it out physically on people, many of whom were merely rounded up and have no guilt.

  74. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 1:45 pm

    Raoul,
Who says that I either hate America or have blood on my hands? You do. Why? Because instead of engaging in a rational debate where what we say is judged by fact and logic, you want to vent which gives you license to say what you feel without regard to reason or fact.

  75. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 1:48 pm

    Coop,
And if you read that article on pro-life and pro-Palestinian, especially the end of the article, I clearly stated that support for the Palestinian cause is a “qualified” support in that we do not support violence. I also said that the same qualified support should go to Israel.

So why do you have to misrepresent to make your point?

I find conservatives inconsistent with regards to the law. When it comes to immigration, conservatives throw a fit when immigrants break our laws, we want them punished. But realize that the U.S. is part of a larger community called the world. That means we should be just as concerned about breaking international law as we are concerned when immigrants break U.S. laws. Inconsistency here shows a lack of true concern for following the law.

  84. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 2:09 pm

  85. Killer261 on May 30th, 2007 2:10 pm

The lefty sense of entitlement SLAYS me! Where is it written that our government should exploit the valiant troops who have given their lives in the defense of liberty by parading their flag draped caskets on the 6 o’clock news? Does the government really hide the casualties? There’s websites dedicated to the number and types of casualties. Those killed in action are honored respectfully in their local newspapers and other media. In Connecticut we fly our flags at half staff for EVERY KIA. What do the moonbats want? Do they want us to parade around with the dead bodies over our heads like they do in Iran and other muslim nations while we scourge ourselves?
I was at GOE I, The Coast Guard Academy, and West Point and I will continue to put myself in the face of the moonbats until they’ve all returned to their twisted belfries. Do I disrespect their opinions? You bet. There is no unity of purpose with the moonbats, merely anarchy. I try to teach my children that when you try to be all things to all people, you’ll end up being nothing to yourself. I believe the peace nazis illustrate this point perfectly.

Curt, I misrepresented nothing. I linked to your article. Your words, not mine. You CANNOT support the Palestinian cause, especially with terrorist group Hamas as its “political” arm, without supporting terrorism. You’ve made your bed. Now lie in it. (double entendre intended)

  89. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 2:47 pm

    Raoul,
Why have a hierarchy here (intellectually superior)? ANSWER depends to be more authoritarian in their approach and does favor more socialistic groups. I am unaware of what groups UFPJ associate with but I know they are not authoritarian. Personally, I will march with anyone who is in favor of peace when the issue is war. I will disagree with groups on other issues.

You seem to want to discredit a whole organization based on what?

  90. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 2:58 pm

    Coup,
You grossly misrepresented me by not including the fact that I oppose violence by both Israelis and Palestinians and that I believe we should offer both the same qualified support. Those are my words and concepts communicated in that article. To state otherwise is to misrepresent.

Did you know, btw, how long a moratorium Hamas held against attacking Israel and yet Israel had killled hundreds of Palestinians during that time?

That is not to say that Hamas is innocent. They are not. But using the international law and the same standards that we use on Hamas and we will find that the Israeli gov’t is not innocent either. Below are links to two articles from Sara Roy, Senior Research Scholar at Harvard and she is Jewish talking about Israel:

  95. Raoul Deming on May 30th, 2007 3:20 pm

    curt,

You are a liar. Both ANSWER and UFPJ are authoritarian. UFPJ will pretend to listen, let you vote, but not in secret, but it’s still the packed Steering Committee that does cagan’s bidding.

In fact, the DC Anti-War network withheld their UFPJ dues in protest.

You’re also a liar for ducking the matter of who is behind ANSWER and UFPJ.

Come on curt, tell the truth. Try it just this once.

  96. Raoul Deming on May 30th, 2007 3:24 pm

“Personally, I will march with anyone who is in favor of peace when the issue is war.”

Well curt, maybe you and David Duke can share a motel room next march because he’s against this war too.

Maybe when you two march side by side, you can share a king sized sheet.

I’ll be looking for the pointy head with four eye holes in the sheet so I can wave to you two comrades.

    curt,

Why can’t ANSWER’s own folks keep the peace in their own house? You guys claim that all we need to do is talk to terrorists, yet ANSWER is at war with itself?

Why do UFPJ and ANSWER fight each other?

  101. antimedia on May 30th, 2007 3:31 pm

Curt, let me see if I can put this in terms you can understand. If you were married, and you spent your entire life constantly protesting your wife’s faults, don’t you think a divorce would be inevitable? Don’t you think it would be logical for her to question your love for her?

Or, to put it another way, if you have a friend, and all you ever did was point out your friend’s faults and criticize him or her for not correcting those faults, don’t you think that friendship would be shortlived? Don’t you think your friend might wonder if you ever really cared for him or her at all?

You see, there’s a time and a place for criticism, and there is a time and a place for unconditional support. Mature people figure this out. Christians should already practice it.

As far as Chomsky goes, he’s a linguistics professor with no background in history who fancies himself a historian. Yet he can’t even get simple facts right or argue logically. I’m not surprised you admire him, because your thought processes are rather disordered as well.

You seem not even able to comprehend that you willingly and actively support communist organizations. You claim to be a fundamentalist Christian, yet you seem blissfully unaware that communism replaces the God of the Bible with the god of the state (Satan). You claim to support peace yet you ignore the fact that the people you work with and protest with and support have been responsible for the deaths of more human beings, by far, than any “evil” the US may ever have committed in defense of freedom. You gladly point out the faults of the US yet ignore the faults of tyrants and murderers. You accept the most blatantly false claims against America as though they were truth, without even questioning if they are so or wondering if the “truth-tellers” have an agenda.

You’re entitled to your opinions, just as everyone is. But please don’t insult our intelligence by insisting that yours are informed ones. They are clearly not.

For example (and only one), the war with Iraq was not illegal, all silly protests to the contrary. Iraq was in clear and repeated violation of the terms of the peace treaty signed in 1991, and the US had the right, under international law, to enforce the terms of that treaty at any time. Saying the war is illegal does not make it so, any more than saying that the US was wrong to enter Vietnam (when we were honoring the terms of our treaty with them) makes that wrong.

Pointing out America’s faults is not un-American. Supporting her enemies is.

    Good points.

  103. Soapbox on May 30th, 2007 3:33 pm

While riding home from Rolling Thunder XX thruogh the beautiful rolling hills and mountains of the Shenandoah Valley on monday I had much time to reflect on the wonderful but somber few days that had just passed. I came to several conculsions on that ride home one of which was to follow the advise of the very best friend a man could ever have, Navy Seal D.R.L. Douglas R was famous for saying “life is too short to try to teach a jackass how to sing.” With that in mind I made a choice not to engage in conversation with those from the other side of the street.

I have on several occasions attempted to have a respectful debate with the likes of our old friends Johnnie and Frankie but my offer has gone unanswered when they realized I was not going to swallow what they were serving as if I was a member of the Jim Jones cult. Now James and Curt pop their little heads up with the same old garbage. While I had promised myself I would not waste any more time on their kind I can simply not let Curt’s above post (#61 above) go unanswered.

The 2 million plus who died in the killing fields of Cambodia died as a direct result of liberal American politics Curt, make no mistake about that! And where do your # of civilians we killed come from? The army of North Vietnam was all but totally destroyed after the Tet Offensive. These are the facts as stated by THE Commanding General of the amry of North Vietnam. He was in fact so concernered with the state of moral that he was preparing the government in the north for defeat. But then the unthinkable happened. Richard Nixon, concerned with the Watergate probe, took his eye off the ball and allowed the leftwing to cave under pressure from the “peace movement” Senators & Congressmen began running the war and in short order our military, who had not lost even one major battle to that point, was handcuffed.

There seem to be some errie parallels with the Vietnam and Iraq wars there Curt. I think we can agree that most politicians are not battle field experts yet they assume they know best how to run a war. Well Curt, didn’t work out real well in Nam and they don’t seem to be doing a great job of it in Iraq either. It’s tough to fight a war when the enemy is allowed to run in to a church/mosque and effectively yell “SAFE” as if it were some sort of children’s game of tag. It’s tough to fight a war when politicians and American liberals are more worried about upsetting the poor little terrorists sensibilities than getting the job done. It is tough to fight a war with an enemy who holds no value for human life. Yes, Jim & Curt they would rather see you dead than say a simple hello to you. Let us not forget who started this war and how it was started. As my friend Kate has said above, when you make the rules you too must play by them. By the way that goes for them and it goes for you also.

You want an end to this war boys? Then turn our troops loose! It will be over in a matter of a month or two. Want to keep playing patty cake, it could last forever! But know this James and Curt, as I have said before, if we don’t end this now you can bet your life that you will be fighting terrorists in the cities and towns of America within your lifetime.

As for who started the war or at least our involvement in Vietnam. Coop is right, as usual, may want to take a real hard look at Kennedy and Johnson.
Perhaps Eisenhower peeked in the door but your Democratic hereo sure has hell kicked it in.

    Steppin’ down; for now

Think about it!

    Raoul,
First, making easy accusations, such as saying I am lying, is not a sign of an objective mind. Another difference between us is that you use individual faults of a person or group to disqualify everything they have to do and say. This is not logical nor healthy.

  114. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 4:35 pm

    George,
When I read posts like yours I am reminded of Jesus’ parable of the two men praying. The religious expert thanked God that he was not like the tax collector. The tax collector simply prayed for mercy. However you want to describe me, if I am receiving God’s mercy, then that is fine. But remember what happened to the religious expert.

Many in GOE want to speak as if there is a hierarchy of people–you do have some counterparts on the left as well. I know from too many sources that our engagements here are between equals rather between a superior and an inferior. The Bible says that. The Declaration of Independence says that. And the mirror says that.

  123. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 5:12 pm

    Soapbox
The cycle of violence was guaranteed when we entered the Vietnam fray. Again, the disillusionment of a WWII ally, the black-white thinking and broad brush painting of the enemy caused us to react in a way that brought out the worse of both sides. You can listen or read Martin Luther King’s analysis of the conflict and realize that he had a very clear picture.

It is the military leadership who publicly said we lost the war because we lost the people of South Vietnam. It was not because the politicians made too many strategic decisions, it was because we fought the war in the first place with a WWII model. When you kill 2,000,000 civilians of the country you are trying to save, you give yourself big obstacles to overcome. It was the use of force in the first place that caused us to lose Vietnam.

Likewise, the decision to overthrow Iran’s democracy in 1953 because they were going to nationalize their oil has caused repercussions that we have yet to recover from. We supported a repressive regime in the Shah that only guaranteed a bitter backlash in the Iranian revolution. Then, based on boolean logic, we played Saddamn against the Ayatollah in a no-win game because the cycle of repercussions that are endless.

In the end, if you look at our war from a financial point of view. We are spending more money than the enemy only to see a net gain in terrorism and terrorist recruits. The source of money is not infinite. So unless we can turn it around and really produce a net gain, how can we win?

For all of the negative talk from GOE, there are some trends that you should be aware of. When the White Rose papers came out in Germany in 1943, the mere talk of Germany’s possible defeat or criticizing the government was considered giving aid and comfort to the enemy and high treason. Stop there. With which group can you most identify with in this story?

There are good people I have met from GOE at the protest and none them talk like the aggressive bunch that I have met here. But both sides have one thing in common, the future of our country is on the line here. I am with the antiwar movement because I believe that their overall view, not all of their views, provides the best hope for my country–the country my kids are becoming adults in. You are with GOE for the same reason. If that is something we have in common, why not discuss these issues as people who have mutual interests?

  124. Coop on May 30th, 2007 5:17 pm

Well, well… what do we have here? Ol’ Curt is passing judgment on our entire group. Tsk tsk.

Are The Gathering Of Eagles Neobrownshirts? (5/28/07)
    http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_curt_day_070527_are_the_gathering_of.htm

Curt is not only a clueless, sanctimonious jerk, but a stunning hypocrite.

  125. Coop on May 30th, 2007 5:21 pm

  127. USMCdaughter1 on May 30th, 2007 5:28 pm

Curt, your butt has been roundly and soundly spanked. Comparing us to 1943 Germans is really really dumb but…given the weak arguments you present time after time after time, not surprising.

Even though it is NOT your job to judge me, rather it is the job of my Creator, I’d STILL rather be judged with this bunch of people than any other on this planet.

    * 250,000 (Olson)
    * 287,000 (Clodfelter = 247,600 war deaths + 38,954 assassinated by NLF)
    * 300,000 (Kutler; Summers)
    * 340,000 (Lewy’s estimate, with the possibility that an additional 222,000 counted as VC (above) belong in this category)
    * 430,000 (The Sen. E. Kennedy Commission, according to Lewy, Olson)
    * 522,000 (Wallechinsky*)
    * 1,000,000 (Britannica [in both North and South]; Eckhardt; Grenville*)
    * 2,000,000 (Tucker*, Official VN* [N&S, 1954-75],)
    * [MEDIAN: starred*: ca. 1,500,000. unstarred: 300,000]

Keep in mind that the Viet Cong, when dead, bore a striking resemblance to civilians. Kinda like the jihadists and all those weddings these days.

    misreprenting = misrepresenting

  136. Curt Day on May 30th, 2007 5:59 pm

    Coop
You are right when you say that misrepresenting = misrepresenting. I wrote that article not to compare conservatives here to Islamic terrorists but to pose the possibility that there is a correlation between conservatism and violence. And if there is, then the current war we are in is an intramural war between conservatives. That means that one possible solution to the mess we are in is to in some ways become more liberal.

I would pose that there are two dynamics involved that you might have seen in yourself as we have dialogued here. First, Conservatives seem to have a craving to control. This is in part because they tend to be purist who may not be able to take blemishes lightly. Second, Conservatives tend to have a passion to punish when there are offenses. Use conservatives from Christianity, Judiasm, and Islam to see if it is the conservatives in each religion who are more prone to having to control and wanting to punish.

Here we are talking about tendencies not absolutes. But at least I can say you are starting to read some good stuff.

    Mike,
All you have done is to state there are different degrees of violence. And it seems to be fueled by intolerance regardless of the degree of violence. Perhaps you are verifying my article that Coop referenced
