From the NY Coordinator: West Point

Kudos to everyone who took part at West Point, to Larry, George, Tracey, Elyse, Kathy, Andy, Jim B., Jim F. and his son, Tim and his family, Raoul, Carolyn, Fernando, Pam and her husband, Tom, David, Coretta, Eva, Zhanna, Susan, Susan N., Dennis, Peggy, Joe, Tommy, Pat, Tom and his son, Lisa, Jim, Jeremy, The American Legion Riders, The Patriot Guard, Rolling Thunder, All the guys from Rockland County, the townspeople of Highland Falls who came out to stand with us, and all the others whom I forgot to name and I know there were dozens more of you.
It was a glorious day for us who were there. We met the opposition. We debated, argued, tweaked noses, satirized, used and confused them to no end. We didn’t do everything perfectly. Tons of mistakes were made. But individual initiative and flexibility enabled us to carry the day.
You will not hear the left crowing about West Point. They are still reeling in shock and awe. For on that day we negated their effectiveness in their last big push for their “Turn up the Heat” campaign. We rained all over their parade. They know it and we know it.
Someday, when this war for the hearts and minds of America is won, some dusty chapter in a history book will recount the events at West Point on May 26, 2007. But until then this will have to suffice.

I was there at West point on the 26th, spending my time outside the front gate with our FLAG & PGR pennant. Almost everyone appreciated the PATRIOTS. There will always be room for more. A special thanks to Jim Ferguson of Rockland who made info about the rally available. Blew the turbo on the Saab at Saw Mill River Pkwy Sunday on the return,train from Tarrytown to NY Grand Central,taxi to Penn sta.AMTRAK to Boston,Concord Bus to Portland,taxi home.Arr.Monday 1300 Phew……Towed the Saab home Tuesday.

If the Iraq war is still going on, I’m pretty certain that some of us will be back at West Point to represent something like the 70% of Americans who do not believe we should be in Iraq. You may outnumber us and outshout us in Highland Falls, but our viewpoint will not go away. Gradually, some of you too may join your fellow servicemen in opposition to this war and this Administration.

Everyone knows that Hussein didn’t directly attack the US on 9/11.. BUT, he’s guilty by gross association! He supported terror openly, he embodied terror and offered cash prizes to hopeless morons to Homocide-bomb innocents.
He offered safe harbor to any wanted terrorists (Abu Nidal of Achilli-Loro fame to name just one), he allowed al-Qaeda to set up shop in the sunni triange a year before 9/11 (Al Zarqawi to name one), he bombed native Iraqi Kurds with biological warheads vie artillary, persecuted and murdered hundreds of thousands of Shia. He openly bragged of his biological weapon stockpile and proved his propensity to use them. What am I missing? (that’s not a real question)
Shall I continue? Okay, I will. He invaded neighbors Kuwait & Iran and openly threatened Saudi Arabia & Israel. During Desert Storm, he launched about 100 scud on tel Aviv.. And never answered for it! Never! Whay bomb Israel? To unite Arab nations against coalition forces and have a mega war. Additionally, to prevent allied forces from entering Irag/Bagdhad, he had his generals agree to an Armistice/cease-fire (if you will) which stipulated that Irag must disarm and allow UN weapons inspectors full access to prove it. Guess what… He fulfilled none of this agreement, so the UN imposed nonsense sanctions, hence… oil for food. Ever heard of that?
This Iraq war of today was a must at the time of the invasion. The democratic congress voted overwhelmingly for the invasion. Now they’re all scrambling with shit-filled backpeddling lies to defend their defenseless records. Shame on them. They made their decision to invade based on the same intel, recent history and how Hussein basically said Up Yours! to all the UN demands.
Agreed, it’s developed into something more in Iraq the leat few years. This administration’s hope was, and is, for some kind of flower to grow in this God-awefull weedbed of misery, hate and unending murder. For it to be cured of its social ills from within.
Our hope is to not only lead them to water, but to show them how to drink. Mid-eastern cultures are in desperate need of self help. Most of them want it. They’ve been subject to nothing BUT corrupt, self-appointed tyrants, horrible lying cleric leaders, monopolizing royal families, tribal warfare, and on and on and on. You name it, they’ve F’d it up. This is a failed society, uuerly, and a broken culture that because of how crappy things are, they’ve become the scorn of the free world, and their leadership continues to get a pass by blaming the the west. It’a always worked, and continues to this day.
Maybe, just maybe, with this endeavor in Iraq… we can change that - from within! To show them that they’ve been lied to. That terror is NOT the answer.
I really don’t care if 80% or 90% of Americans don’t have the wisdom or foresight to see this and support the war, and the troops. I support that invasion for the aformentioned reasons. If I’m the last guy to say it and stand alone, I’ll still support this war. Some wars are just damn necessary. Understand?
Nothing can be harder that fighting a war with hearts and minds at stake. But because our future is at stake, our children’s lives are at stake… I say: if their hearts and minds do not follow, then put a bullet in their mind, and be done with it.

I have no problem with freedom of speech. One of the first things I said was to an Eagle and I said that I prefer yous guys to be counter-demonstrators than to be a part of American Idle.
What I object to is the hate speech. Calling people who oppose violence racists or commies who are responsible for the deaths of millions as was a just a sampling of what was said at West Point or saying here that antiwar people hate America might give permission for some to engage in more than just verbal assaults.
Like it or not for those in both groups, we have some things in common. If we deny that, we are on the way to denying what was said in the Declaration of Independence: that all are created equal.

Making distinctions is essential for our own well-being as well as making decisions. Certainly Saddamn was the kind of person where whatever you called him, it would be a euphemism. But to react to him as we had to against the taliban and Al-Qaeda is to fail to recognize the important differences. Plus, some of what you said can be contested. For example, the only base that could be linked to Al-Qaeda that was in Iraq during Saddamn’s reign was in Kurdish held territory. Plus, everyone knew that the secular regime of Saddamn and the religious call of Bin Ladin were at opposite ends. Saddamn did not trust Bin Ladin because he could not control him. It would take a lot to push the two together.
We could argue about whether Iraq had it coming but my point is that we need to find other ways of dealing with such people and countries than using massive force which puts civilians in the middle. Why? Because we are on the eve of proliferation. We have just heard the two minute warning before proliferation arrives. We could delay it with some sideline passes and timeouts, but eventually the clock reaches 0:00:00. At that time the difference between us and our enemies will be in how many times we can overkill each other.
Once proliferation occurs, if we do not have well-established non-violent ways to deal with disputes and threats, it is all over for all of us. John F. Kennedy said that war must become obsolete or we will as did Martin Luther King. They both said so because technological advancements are not faithful lovers.
Yes, we had to use military action against Afghanistan–not everyone in the peace movement objects to this though I think I am in the minority there. But we need to use non-violent means for all problem areas outside of those directly responsible for attacking us. Why? All of the studies from the State Department and the latest study from terrorism expert Peter Bergen et al find that since Iraq, worldwide terrorism has increased since the Iraq invasion–Bergen shows that this is true even when we exclude the terrorism that occurs in Afghanistan and Iraq.

By “Eve of proliferation”, do mean the sudden & inevitable massive spread of Islam and its intolorance? Is that what you mean? To eat their shit-sandwich? (if not, then I missed your point) Or do you mean The U.S.’s sudden expansion?
When one culture imposes it’s will on another, the recipient MUST FIGHT, or die trying. Period. I’m happy to die preserving my life, my culture, my country. If we’re overcome, so be it, but I ain’t lying down. You go ahead; I’d be happy to use you and 50 of your friends as sandbags.
We’ve overcome other societies, I know (Native Americans for one). They fought, and lost. That was inevitable. And so is the clash with Islam. It will happen on a much broader scale for sure. They, not us, but they - will have it no other way. WE, not them, are the defenders.
I believe our invasion of Mid-Eastern nations was just the first salvo of the most inevitable clash of civilizations the world will know, or has known. Our actions were pre-emptive in nature, in that we hoped to show the other side of the coin before they got all gung-ho. Created more terror? Good! Then Come out, I say! So the clash can begin. The sooner it begins, the sooner it will end.
The world has never known peace, it never will. I’ve accepted this the same way I accept that Lions will hunt and eat Zebras. Big birds will kill smaller ones. It’s that simple.
A basic question you have to ask yourself is… do you think the U.S. is a good nation? Does she help less fortunate peoples and lands? Has she offered up her youth in defense of the defenseless? If you don’t answer YES to all these questions, you simply don’t love your country. You’re ashamed of her. Perhaps you’re just too clouded and cluttered with intelectuality and unrealistic ideology, I don’t know. But I think your nature is to question the U.S. before questioning the other bastards. I think this is a fundemental flaw in your thinking. Liberalism in the most perfect form. I’m sorry, there’s jut no middle ground. Let’s unite, shall we. Help us defeat islamic fascism & terror first, we can argue later on the same side of the street.
