Good Surge, Bad News?

Good Surge, Bad News?

It seems the House Democrats are beginning to worry that the surge results won’t be what they have prayed hoped for.

Many Democrats have anticipated that, at best, Petraeus and U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker would present a mixed analysis of the success of the current troop surge strategy, given continued violence in Baghdad. But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be “a real big problem for us.”

Notice he said a positive report on the surge would be a problem for Democrats and not good news for the country. Would it be too much to ask our politicians to put our country first (if only in time of war) and party concerns second?

NY Times Reports and Prints Story from the Right

July 31, 2007

(Published in the New York Times written by MICHAEL E. O’HANLON and KENNETH M. POLLACK)

“there is enough good happening on the battlefields of Iraq today that Congress should plan on sustaining the effort at least into 2008.”

The New York Times printed this? New York Times Reporters wrote this? Something has undeniably changed. Two of their top reporters got a surprise when they return to Iraq two years later to get the story of a failing policy. Instead, they found the right opposite. They discovered that the troops morale was up under the leadership of Gen. David  Petraeus, and the new surge efforts is paying off big time.

Everywhere they turned Army and Marine units focused on securing the Iraq population, working with Iraqi security units, creating new political and economic arrangements at the local level and providing basic services; electricity, fuel, clean water and sanitation to the Iraqi population.

GOE has taken to the streets multiple times as of late. Personally, I love yelling back at the leftists who cannot think in layers. Everything is about feeling good on the Left. They simply cannot accept that people disagree with them, since they are so “well-intentioned.” It challenges their world-view, so they respond angrily. Part of me loves bringing them to that point, and it is, without a doubt, an important part of me. It also means the world to our troops serving in harm’s way. It is not all we can do, or should be doing though. If we truly want to do everything for our men and women in uniform we must do more. As Winston Churchill so succinctly put it, “Sometimes it is not enough to do your best. Sometimes, you must do what is required.”

Calling All Vets for Freedom

July 30, 2007

This bulletin comes from our friends over at Vets for Freedom, who are joining us on 9/15 in D.C. to counter the moonbats.

In September, General Petraeus will report to Congress on the status of the mission in Iraq. At that time, members of Congress will decide whether to continue the mission and defeat Al Qaeda, or abandon the mission and surrender to America’s enemies. The stakes could not be higher.

It is absolutely crucial that veterans have a voice in September’s debate. And therefore we’re asking every Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who believes in the mission - and supports our fellow soldiers and Marines still serving - to converge on Washington, DC on Tuesday, September 18th.

We plan to have hundreds of veterans on Capitol Hill … and hope you’ll be one of them.

Leftists infighting over lack of impeachment progress

July 30, 2007

Cindy Sheehan was indeed arrested during her protests at the Washington D.C. office of Rep. John Conyers last week, following her disgraceful walk from the gates of Arlington National Cemetery. It appears that the true face of the leftist fanatics may be showing through. To see how they are beginning to eat their own, more can be found here at Berkeley Daily Planet.

Eagles to Land in Washington

July 30, 2007

(Contributed by Dan Parsons in the Washington Post, Special to the Daily News)

The weekly peace vigils on Stewart Parkway protesting the Iraq war have stirred opposition. Tonight, Gathering of Eagles plans to match wits with the gathered group, it was announced Thursday night at a meeting of the Down East Republican Club.

In response to those vigils, Gathering of Eagles Chairman Larry Bailey said Thursday that he plans to represent “the negative side,” something he said he finds to be effective in politics.

“I have found that I am most effective when I go against something,” Bailey said. “There is a place in politics for the negative side.” Read more

Sheehan Flies North for Winter

July 29, 2007

Cindy Sheehan is scheduled to appear at the ‘Bob Fest,’ an annual progressive political Liberal love fest and circle jerk, in Madison, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo.

Sheehan had been reported to be visiting Syria and Iraq in this time frame, so perhaps, if this Bob Fest report is not misinformation, all of our calls and letters to the States Department may have struck pay dirt and her applications for U.S. Government support for her trip may have been denied.

On Occasion We Need Reminding…

How We Forget The True Meaning Of Our Flag…

The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.

The second fold is a symbol of our belief in the eternal life.

The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks who gave a portion of life for the defense of our country to attain a peace throughout the world.

The fourth fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in times of war for His divine guidance.

The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, May she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.”

The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

The seventh fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they are found within or without the boundaries of our republic.

The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered in to the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on mother’s day.

The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood; for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the characters of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded.

The tenth fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since they were first born.

The eleventh fold, in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.
When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God we Trust.”

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington and the sailors and marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for us the rights, privileges, and freedoms we enjoy today

Mama Duck Quacks in Union Square

Here are some photos from Cindy Sheehan’s traveling medicine show Friday in Union Square Park, New York City. The usual blend of reality challenged moonbats were in attendance. You can view the photos at Urban Infidel.

You’d Have Been Proud…

July 27, 2007

…of your water-soaked Eagles in Washington, NC, today! From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, we hung tough during a violent wind- and rain storm on Washington’s waterfront. Signs and caps were flying all over the place, but we weren’t about to leave as long as there was a single moonbat in the area.

And we WERE soaked, but we didn’t leave until our permitted time expired. At the end, about 15 Eagles were still receiving the honks, waves, and salutes of the local folks driving by, compared to only three or four moonbats, who really had a thankless experience.

And the media turned out in force! Three television stations and two newspapers were represented, and Uncle George Samek was once again the face of GOE. As always, he did a great job outlining the goals and intentions of our organization in a most colorful manner.

All told, there were about thirty or forty Eagles, including three or four folks from Eagles Up, standing across the street from, at highest count, thirteen moonbats. They were outnumbered and outclassed, and the local police loved us.

Bubba, Yakfisher, Cody, George, and several other out-of-town Eagles showed up and showed the flag for our troops.

Well done, all of you!

Cindy Sheehan Wants to Imprison YOU

July 27, 2007

This gem is on the website of the self-proclaimed “Camp Casey Peace Institute.”

It is about time us “peasants” (in the eyes of the Fascist Ruling Elite) march on DC with our “pitchforks” of righteous anger and our “torches” of truth to demand the ouster of BushCo. I have a dream of the detention centers that George has built and filled being instead filled with Orange Clad neo-cons and neo-connettes. (emphasis mine)

That woman is off of her ever-loving rocker crazy. I hope Gathering of Eagles and other patriotic Americans stand in front of her, every single place that woman shows her face for anti-U.S. purposes, forever.

I’ll be there on the 15th to face her down and tell her I am a proud American who supports our boys overseas.  Will you?

Breaking Action News: Sheehan to Pollute Central Park

July 26, 2007

Who:     Cindy Sheehan
What:    Gathering of faint Hearts Rally/Concert
Where:  Central Park, East Meadow, 5th Ave & East 97th Street  (Opposite Mt. Sinai Medical Center)
When:   Sunday, July 29th, Noon to 6pm
Plan:  Gather at 5th Ave & East 97th Street at Noon.

We will proceed into the park and stake out a prominent location.  We will voice our Support for our Troops and disdain for Ms. Sheehan as loudly and vocally as possible.  We will use our first amendment  right to free speech to interrupt her traitorous bile.  Remember, Casey was a Hero, Cindy is a Zero!

Bring flags, signs, banners, cow bells, duck callers anything you might need for a day in the park with moonbats.  If you arrive late just enter the park through that entrance and look for the cluster of American flags (we can be certain the traitors won’t have them). Read more

Nothing Goes Unchallenged

July 24, 2007

The Iraq Veterans Against the War, the Delaware Valley Veterans of America and Cindy Sheehan came to Philly today. They had a scheduled program from 1330 to 1530. I showed up at 1230 and was met nearly immediately by Eagles and the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. We flew the flag, waved signs and had a dozen passers-by join our number. Right away we were challenged with the usual angry rhetoric. With facts at our disposal, they resorted to name calling, but remember–they “support the troops.” Read more
