GOE 3, Part 2: In the Face of Evil
September 20, 2007
The weather cleared a bit and became fairly pleasant as the day wore on, but it was the only thing becoming more pleasant. Outside the Capitol where Jake and I were, the mood was so tense it was palpable. We sat with Michelle Malkin and Bryan Preston for a while while Michelle live-blogged, and we tried to ignore the straggling moonbats as they shuffled by in twos and threes, screaming obscenities and giving us the finger. I told Jake not to waste his time and energy on the individuals walking by–there would be far more of them soon enough.
My words became true after another hour of waiting, and soon the street was awash in a sea of coward’s yellow. Signs screamed everything from “Get Out of Iraq” to “Stop Bombing Lebanon.” Were we bombing Lebanon? I didn’t know that. Those moonbats were sure well-informed. I asked a few of them as they walked by if they could name the countries bordering Iraq but their only answer was unprintable and had something to do with Bush and Halliburton.
After only a short while, we found ourselves in the middle of them, as their march route brought them right through our area on their way to the Capitol for the die-in. In the span of a few moments, we went from properly segregated to completely integrated…and suddenly, it was like organized chaos. “Peace” marchers kicked me in the shins out of sight of the police, daring me to hit them and retaliate. Old hippies still lost in the 1960’s jumped into my face and called me a terrorist. Kathy Upton called me then from her post up at the Capitol.
“Where are you guys?!” I hurriedly told her where we were and said I needed to hang up. There were moonbats everywhere around us, and they were all angry. One woman, decked out in flowers and buttons calling for “love for everyone,” screamed that “American troops are the f—ing problem!” I moved aside so she could see Jake standing there and screamed right back.
“Why don’t you tell him that to his face, you stupid piece of trash?” She didn’t miss a beat as she proceeded to do just that. Jake started moving toward her with a dark expression and I pulled him back.
“Not worth it…don’t even bother. Time for a cigarette break?” He agreed and we stepped back from the front to smoke and calm down a bit. He angrily vented about the idiocy all around him as I listened.
“These people, ” he spat angrily, “don’t even understand why we’re there. They don’t even know what’s going on. This is like spitting in my face, and the faces of all my fellow soldiers. These people are sick and disgusting.”
To lighten the mood a bit, I started pointing out the ridiculousness of the people marching by.
“Look at this idiot,” I chuckled as I gestured to a horribly obese woman wearing pink spandex and carrying a sign calling for the “liberation” of Palestine. “This girl’s only here because it’s her only chance to be within 4 feet of the opposite sex.” Jake laughed, and we went on like that for a bit, laughing at the utter stupidity of their costumes, their signs, and their complete inability to carry on an intelligent conversation about what they believe. After a bit, he felt ready to go back to the front, and we took our places again, ready to do battle with those who hate us and what we stand for. We traded insults and profanity for a while, and every so often we’d step back and take a break so Jake could calm down a bit.
Kathy found us, and we walked across the street to the far side of the Capitol circle. As we stood there, I suddenly realized I had made a critical error in Jake’s preparation–I had forgotten to tell him about the flag-draped casket that always seems to find its way to these marches. It was there in front of us–a casket adorned with the photo of a fallen Marine, an upside-down American flag, and a pair of combat boots on top of the flag. Jake’s face crumpled in a mixture of fury and grief.
“How can they do that? That is just…” he stopped, unable to continue. And then it happened, so fast that none of us saw it coming.
An Eagle ran over to the casket and snatched the Marine’s photo from the end. Tucking it to himself, he ran…towards us. Suddenly he was tackled to the ground only five feet from us, and the scene erupted as Eagles jumped in to defend their brother. I heard a scream like nothing I’ve ever heard before, and as I turned, I saw Jake, his face filled with rage, going toward the fight. I grabbed him in a bear hug from the back as I heard his mother yelling at me not to let him get hurt, and Kathy came to assist as Jake’s sheer fury powered him–and dragged me–toward the men wrestling on the ground. There was no way we were letting go.
It took both of us and Jake’s mother, but we held him back and pushed him to the bushes lining the sidewalk, guarding him from the sights and chaos around with our bodies. He finally collapsed into deep, wracking sobs, and Kathy and I simply held him and talked to him as the madness swirled around. We were all crying as his mother begged us to get him out of there, but he refused to leave. We stood there forever, it seemed, and after a while he calmed down and we moved aside to allow the police to swarm the area. Chris Hill had already neutralized the situation, and had gotten bit by a moonbat for his trouble.
The rest of the march was fairly uneventful, and thankfully we were greeted with a bit of comic relief at a time when we all desperately needed it. A few men walked by wearing red tutus, and when we yelled and jeered at them, one of them stopped.
“Do you want me to shake my ass for you?” he lisped. Turning around, he lifted his skirt to reveal a pair of red panties. Jake stepped forward with his cane but stopped short when he saw the wet spot and obvious brown stain on the moonbat’s panties.
We erupted into howls of laughter. “You crapped yourself!” we yelled while trying–and failing–to control our laughing.
Walking back to the Metro station, we were still surrounded by anti-war protestors. We were the only patriots in our Metro car, and we held our heads high. We had ruled the day, and as I looked at the soldier standing next to me, I was prouder than ever before. I may be a female veteran with no combat experience, but I had done battle with evil today–and I had taken care of my brother.
Experiencing the rally and march through his eyes made everything so much more real. I saw his pain, his rage, and his pride. I am honored to have worn the same uniform as people like Jake. I am humbled by his sacrifice and his gift to this country, and later that night, I went to Mologne House and met more heroes just like him. All of them deserve our gratitude, our respect, and our undying loyalty.
Thank you to all the Eagles to I met that day. We made a difference, and I am proud to be among your number.
EAGLES UP!

Thanks for that story. I pray this fine young man knows he on the right side of this issue and history. If I see him again, I’ll shake his hand and thank him for his service on behalf of my kids, who will benefit from his commitment to our country.

Dan,
He knows…just like thousands of his brothers know. Just like so many of us know……This war must not be lost. I feel sorry for people like carolb. It must be miserable to have no faith in country, god or purpose.
I am truly sorry I couldn’t make it to the rally. I would like to thank all of those who went and did the heavy lifting. I would mostly like to thank Jake and his brothers in arms for all they do. We won’t forget!
Darn skippy we made a difference. I wish I had been there to help out during that mess, but I was a couple blocks down. All I could think about, during their march, was my brother and his Marines & ANA guys, fighting it out with the Taliban. I found myself screaming at the top of my lungs,”Let the Marines WIN this war”. I was so upset my hands were shaking. A kind word from Tantor helped me make it through, and after the march was over I collapsed on a bench to rest.
It was an amazing day. Oorah Eagles!
Indeed…it was a glorious day and I saw the momentum we are building upon.
As we joined the Vets For Freedom and marched on DC on the 18th, we were told by most that our momentum is building and the momentum on the left has waned considerably.
We MUST keep up the pressure!
The rally on the 15th was outstanding!
Soldier On!!

God will bless all of you that stood up for America on that day. You stand as an example to all of us as well as your children and grand children. The anti-war Liberal scum will be judged, as all of us will be judged, and they will surely come up lacking. The goes for Liberal traitors and RINOs in the US Congress. They, too, will come up lacking. These politicians have let their hunger for power, greed, and egos become more important than their nation as well as our futures. Eagles, thank you for your service all those yesterdays ago and now.
Jake is an incredibly impressive young man and I was honored to be able to meet him and his mother. I’m sorry that he or any of our vets have to see the ugliness from the antis.
But to see that sea of flags and all the patches on vests was a balm to these pink weary eyes.
Will we lose? Only if we don’t show up.

Question: if our government’s foreign policy is wrong, is it ok to be against it. Do citizens have a duty to speak up when things go wrong?
Millions of americans believe we should have never invaded and occupied Iraq and we should leave because the administration seems to not have the ability to provide enough security to proceed with reconstruction.
Not trying to be too difficult here, but I don’t get how ripping the picture of a dead soldier off the memorial his father made for him was an honerable thing to do. Freedom of speech aside, wasn’t that destruction of his personal property?
Also, many of you seem to suggest that there should be limits to free speech, where should these limits be and who should decide where they are?
Just asking…
Dang it Kit!!!
The next time you need to have a Eagle take on many a moonbat, and make a wonderful Vet (who has inspired me to no end!) laugh at the absurdity of moonbats and their asinine buffoonery…you need to call in the Pit-Bull!
As luck would have it, we got separated from many an Eagle that needed us that day when we hot-footed it from our organised location off 10th to the capital.
Apparently we somehow tried a low grade flanking maneuver, and ended up on the right side of the capital away from the die-in (100 meters?), and all we wanted was to know where our fellow Eagles were!
No George, No Kit, No Chris…just about 65 Eagles stuck by 2 police barricades…though we did have the GW college republicans, but a lot of them left 1/2 through, cause they went to get food (…that is Pit-bull language for “weak”…)
The next time you decide to be in the thick of things, you let me know and this Eagle will be standing at your side, making DAMN sure no one tries to kick you again.
We’ll have to plan better when the moonbats take to the streets again, because when you guys need my craziness to keep the moonbats attention (think bait) I was on the other side of the Capital Lawn….
My apologies, but let me know whats up next time…K?

John…
You are not worth my time…but I’ll try, cause I’ll get under your skin. And when I do that, I’ll just add you to my ever-growing list of people who hate me. When that happens I will just smile as I always do.
All of you ant-war dunces have no clue as to the damage you do to our fighting men and women when you pull maneuvers like this failed march. When you attack their good name, and their sacrifice of their friends, families, and loved ones…
Then when someone challenges you on your anit-war (really anti American) views you go running for the WAAAAAAmbulance tell all who will listen that “dissent is patriotic” and “I really support the troops…really” when you end up stabbing those who serve in the back by 3 simple things…
1) You ACTIONS…what you do hurts morale, and hurts our world standing as a repesintitive Republic…
2) You RHETORIC…words are not just words…they have consequences that result in many dire things. If you want an example of these consequences we can use your compadries words, and those of your owh “dissent”. These are DIRECTLY responsible for the deaths of servicemen. Oh yea, I went there….
You say and do things in your “peace” marches…that gets transmitted across the world on the web, and television. That enables one more jihadists to fight another day, once your words and actions are turned into propaganda by AQ, and Fata Al Islam and others…this propaganda allows one more jihadist the energy to plant that efp, killing more of your countrymen that die all for the sake that you can spout your inane drivel that places them at risk in the first place! (do you understand why you’re a putz?)
3) The COMPANY YOU KEEP…during this last march I was accosted by many young youths in the “peace” rally wearing “Palestinian peace scarfs” also know as keffiyeh…
Out side of that signifier they had hats that said PLO pride, and held signs and had shirts that said “free Palestine”. Being a bit of an older man, I can remember that one of the original items in the PLO charter was to wipe Israel off the map, freeing Palestine…when I asked this little ass wipe how many more Jews had to die in order to free Palestine he responded “ALL OF THEM…”
let me say that again…
“ALL OF THEM…”
Later when that same group accosted veterans to my left I asked the same question…the answer I got from another keffiyeh wearing thug was “Only one more Jew has to die..” in which he pointed at me, as if is index finger was a gun, mimicking the recoil it produces…
This “peace” march held many of these anti-Semitic scumbags (oh and by the way, I’m not Jewish, but my Jewish friends find this story a real hoot, and now call me Jewish by association.) and many other violent people calling for the overthrow of the US government, and the freeing of Mumia bla bla bla bla…
I could list them all, but you wouldn’t care…
You ACTIONS betray your intent…
Your RHETORIC shows your lack of compassion, and the hurt you willingly inflict on your fellow countrymen…
You FRIENDS at these events show just how low in the sewer you are willing to go to shovel your S*&t and tell me that it’s ice cream sprinkles…
Oh yes I do know that the keffiyeh, depending on its colors, can mean different things to different people. But the traditional white and black ones seen on Saturday are worn in support and solidarity of the palestinian people…who would be their ruling parties; Fata, the “reformed” former terrorists, or Hamas, the active terrorists who want to kill all Israelis and Jews to “liberate palestine”….yeah you picked some nice associates there bucko…perhaps next time you’ll just hang out with the Mob.
Have a nice day…
And try no too let the door hit you on the way out…
Pitbull…
That was a neat diatribe, but I was wondering if you could answer his question.
Maybe I’ll try and phrase it differently… Is it ever ok to disagree with the government? If so, when?
I’ve looked all over this site for what it is exactly that the gathering of eagles stands for, and I can’t say that I totally understand.
Not trying to be a dick or anything, I’m really curious to hear your side.
Thanks.
To ND, where was your dissent when BJ Clinton was destroying our country with his disgraceful antics and when he turned his cowardly back while the terrorists’ we plotting and planning to attack us? You Liberals only dissent when the other party is in office. Where will your dissent be when King Hillary is taking away your freedoms and destroying our country and our futures? By the way, the Islamic wackos, that you support, feel sorry for, and suck up to, would destroy you in an instant. The anti-war human debris are a disgrace to our heritage and they make a mockery of what it is to be American.

To: 1madpittbul, aka Captain America! You said it exactly as I say it when I talk to the moonbats who look like they might have an trace of reasoning. The ones that don’t I tell them to get out of my face or I’ll slap you in the teeth.
They don’t get it. You just explaind the precise cause and reason we are here as eagles, and this jamook “ND” acknowledged nothing.
Yo ND, this is the entire reason we are here, That’s it. You can accept it or not, it’s your choice. If you don’t choose it, that’s fine, but don’t habg aroung and debate nonsense for nothing. You fanooks are just agitators looking to argue. We don’t have time for you, we’re busy trying to pull this country out of the gutter YOU put it in.
Hey Captain- It was nice fe the wife and I to meet you Saturday. I was the guy with the Kitty Hawk hat on.
Also to ND: Where was your disset when Clinton was bombing the Serbs into the middle ages. Blowing up school busses etc, remember that? Massive collateral ddamage, no one said boo… why? because he’s a lib? YES! G-damn hypocrits!!
This story made me cry…I was at GOE1 and GOE2 and tried to get to GOE3 but it was just not possible…this brave young soldier Jake is more of a hero than he will ever know.
This old Army grunt will forever remember Jake in my prayers and in my heart…he is truly a brother. Jake thank you!
FOR YOUR COURAGE!
FOR YOUR SACRIFICE!
FOR YOUR BRAVERY!
I SALUTE YOU

TO ALL THE MOONBATS THAT WANT TO POST ON THE GOE WEBSITE.
GO AHEAD , THAT’S FINE WITH ME AS LONG AS YOU ARE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS.
BUT THE ONE COMMENT THAT SEEMS TO POP UP FREQUENTLY IS THAT YOU DON’T QUITE UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT.
ALL I CAN SAY IS, IF YOU HAVE TO ASK, THEN YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL.
YOU SEE, IT’S LIKE THIS. GOE IS A “BROTHERHOOD”.
EVERYONE HERE CAME TOGETHER BACK IN THE WINTER BECAUSE WE ALL SHARED THE SAME THOUGHTS, IDEAS, FEELINGS, ANGER , AND PAIN FOR YEARS.
WE FOUND EACH OTHER. AND WE STAND AS ONE.
IT’S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
WE CAN BE AS NICE AS ANYONE YOU HAVE EVER MET IN YOUR LIFE.
AND WE CAN ALSO BE YOUR WORST ENEMY.
IT’S ENTIRELY UP TO YOU.
I did not serve in the military, however, I have great admiration and respect for those that served. My father, David, served in WWII (China/Burma/India) and again in the Korean War. I echo Mike’s comments above. I find those that post on GOE, who do not respect and honor those that served, are despicable and have no place here. Take your comments to some sleaze Liberal website where you can complain to other traitors. Just know, that when our enemies arrive at your door, they will not respect you for anything, but the useful idiots that you’ve become. Don’t look to an American patriot to protect you. Learn to protect yourself.
The original post is a great story as a Nam Vet I think I understand how Jake feels. These protesters cry about their rights but don’t care about anyone elses rights or property. There are two posts which I feel obliged to address. Yhis would be John W. & ND sure it’s okay to disagree with the goverment we fought to give you that right. I disagreed with most anything Clinton ever did, and all the Kennedys and Johnson, By GOD I’ve got that right. We are not talking about disagreeing with politicians. What these people want is to abandon the Iraqi people to terrorists and outsiders who don’t want them to have any right. They want to treat them like garbage and slaves. It does not matter whay we went in it’s one STupid we are there. You can’t go back in time and change it. To run out now and abandon those brave people fighting for their freedoms would be the foulest of crimes. Now matter what lame political argument you use you cannot justify pulling out and allowing them to be murdered, tortured, massacerd & gassed to death!!! I have seen a letter from an Iraqi soldier whose brother was killed because they thought it was him. He was told to give in to the terrorist or they they would kill him and the rest of his family. He says he will not Quit!!! He begs us not to quit on him they cannot stand alone yet. He knows if we leave he is dead. We started thing we DAMN Well better finish it this time!!!
Yes, I believe that the anti-war Liberal crowd are cowards and scum and traitors. Your dissent gives “aid and comfort” to our enemies and are, in my opinion, causing American patriots to die. If you think that’s patriotic, then you better look up the definition. If you have comments about the war and dissent, then I suggest you pick up your telephone and call the White House or your Liberal hypocrites in DC who are out for power, greed, and ego. Send your comments directly to the politicians and keep your faces, actions, and comments out of the public forum where our enemies are watching. If you want to ally yourself with our enemies, then you are a traitor. You think of yourself and yourself only and not the brave men and women who are putting their lives on the line so you can whine and cry in public. If you cared so much about your country, then put on a uniform and defend your way of life like American patriots are doing right now. Just know that our enemies would destroy you in a minute if they could. As I wrote earlier, you are a useful idiot. And, yes, I mean every word of it. I challenge you to research who is financing your Liberal dissent. You will find, it’s America’s enemies. Thus, you are being used.
God bless you, Muppet. Well said.
Yo moonbats — You have had your say, and your time is over. Time to lay down and play dead, your (most effective stance). Your anti-war / anti-america agenda is out there for everyone to see. Eagles are not an endangered species any more, and we see you for what you are. Run Hippies Run!!!
Eagles UP!
And as usual, all carolbitch can do is fling nonsensical babble and continue to not have the guts to take on those of us who’ve actually BEEN to Iraq!
And to eman_resu, there is NOTHING that is condecending about my attitude; I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
So when gutless anti-military extremists spout HATE SPEECH about something they know NOTHING about, I TAKE IT PERSONALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their hate speech does nothing except get my brothers and sisters ASSASSINATED by their gutless ragheaded buddies!
Now if you have HONEST QUESTIONS to ask those of us who’ve actually BEEN to Iraq; ASK AWAY, and we’ll give you straight answers!
Carolb, I suggest you take your comments over to moveon.org where your like-minded anti-American, anti-military human debris hang out. Leave those of us who love our country and support the American patriots putting their lives on the line to protect us. As I said, you’re a useful idiot that would be more at home on a Liberal website. In your spare time, I suggest you start reading history as it is about to repeat itself. The winds of war are blowing whether you cry and whine or not. You can march in the streets until hell freezes over and that won’t stop our enemies that are plotting to destroy our way of life.
BTW, muppet, history has already repeated itself. Bush is saying all of the same things that another lying Republican nutcase, Nixon, said about the Vietnam war!
Just remember the war That republican Nixon inherited was was started by Democrats!!! I’m bi-paritisan but I know a democ”RAT” when I see one. It’s not politics here though. Right or wrong this country started a war in Iraq. We cannot just say we don’t want to play anymore. We cannot abandon these people to the tenhder mercies of people who have no mercy. You can drool all day about your political bullcrap. Hell some of it even sounds slightly beliveable. But know this, if we pull out now we are condeming to death thousands of human beings who thought we were going to help them be free. Why don’t you try to explain to the Iraqi’s who are fighting and dying for their freedom that we should leave!
Carolb, careful your lunacy is showing and your Liberalism is overflowing. You’ve picked the wrong website to have tantrums on and I no longer care to waste my time.
Muppet, I still don’t believe you really honestly think of fellow Americans that oppose the war as traitors. If you really believed that they were, I would think that you would have documented their actions and behaviors and notified the FBI of your concerns. Have you? If so what were the results? and if not, Why haven’t you taken any action yet?
As for supporting the soldiers, I definately support them. I pay my taxes which in turn pays their salaries and provides their equipment for them to perform their jobs. The Military works for the citizens of the United States, it is under civilian control via our elected political leaders. We tell it where to go and what to do, We judge whether it is performing well or not. If we say “go to this country and do this” they go, if we say “come on home” then they come home. You can argue all you want that a “soldier on the ground” knows best about the situation but it is not for them to decide.
eman_resu, Yes, I do believe that, when your actions and/or dissent causes the enemy to believe they are winning the propaganda war, it serves to keep them fighting and causing more American soldiers’ deaths. If that makes you feel more like an American, then you have a warped sense of patriotism and love of country. IMO, that is sick and traitorous. When your actions, kill fellow Americans serving to protect your rear end, yes, you are aiding the enemy and, yes, you are a traitor. That makes you no better than Jane Fonda who we all know caused American soldier’s to be tortured and killed. You need an up close and personal view of our enemies and then perhaps you will understand who the enemy is. Go to Walter Reed and ask those men and women who the enemy is.
Carolb, what tips your hand is your “total” lack of criticism of losers such as Jimmah Carter, who, by the way, failed to deal with the terrorist state of Iran. Your total lack of criticism of LBJ, who was a failure as a leader during the Vietnam war. Your total lack of criticism of Bill Clinton and his power-hungry wife, who failed to stop 9/11 which was being plotted on his watch. Your blind hatred of only Republicans is suspect. IMO, you’re Liberal talking points reflect your sucking up the mainstream media and Liberal propaganda. I spent over 9 years actively working in politics and I can assure you that I know these Liberal politicians up close and personal. Where’s your disdain and criticism of Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Schumer, Reid, Feinstein, Boxer, and the rest of the anti-military, anti-American politicians? If you’re so objective, as you profess, let’s hear your take on these power-hungry, corrupt, ego maniacs.
being a usmc viet nam veteran and currantly having a son serving in iraq, i am appaled at the photo of code pink holding a banner claiming to support the death of american soldiers. these bitches need to be charged with treason, and then shot. freedom of speech only goes so far
It just keeps getting better & better. Now Kennedy was killed because he was going to pull our troops out of Viet Nam.
And did you know we never landed on the moon and the government is hiding little green men in Roswell?
Somebody please tell me where these “people” come from !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
