A Father Keeps the Faith
May 13, 2008
PFC Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Michigan and Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts both of the 10th Mountain Division have been listed as POW/MIA since their patrol was ambushed on 12 May, 2007. In Michigan, Byron’s stepdad has refused to accept anything but that Byron and Alex will one day come home. I have spoken to him on numerous occasions. He is a salt of the earth type. To honor and remember these men a Ride and Rally will be held 17 May, 2008. We can only keep the faith that we will, eventually, get to welcome these brave warriors home. Brothers Byron and Alex, you are not forgotten. Manchu.

I wanted to pass on that for the last year, I do what I can to keep Byron and Alexs’ name in the publics’ mind and heart. Last December, our state passed Resolutions in our Legislature (Senate Resolution 132 and House Resolution 242) to create a Michigan POW/MIA Recognition Day at the state level to coincide with the National POW/MIA Recognition Day in September. This took place because when concerned citizens started asking, then realizing, just how few POW/MIAs there were, they went into action and contacted Representatives and Senators to help keep our state aware and to NOT LET THEM BE FORGOTTEN! In January, I traveled 5.200 miles, sharing the plight of our (my) heroes in many different states, and early April another 3,000 miles. I have brothers and sisters in many states around this great country, helping to share the story, and remind everyone that these are OUR NATIONS’ SONS and are serving with EVERYTHING they have. The Jimenez family will be having an event in Massachusetts on May 10th. Information on the event can be seen on http://www.necfom.com. This week Byrons’ father and I will be traveling together to “Matt” Maupins’ Funeral. Keith and Carolyn Maupin have been so very inspirational. With the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, and their determination, so many lives will be helped and touched in such a beautiful way. In conclusion, please thank a soldier for your freedom, honor them for your liberty, pray for those who give and God Bless America!
Ma. Eagles were on hand to pay their respects to these two families in Lawrence, Ma last weekend. See http://www.goetalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=450 for a few pictures and a brief AAR. Please keep these families in your prayers.
