A place for comments that have no other place to be

April 24, 2008

Here’s a spot, and I’ve moved a couple of posts here already on request of GOE National, for all those comments that don’t really fit anywhere else!

The AAR for Saturday’s Iran-mobile counter in Meadville will be delayed. Our video camera has been confiscated by the Edinboro PD. We had a counter protest today in Edinboro. It was an Iraq war protest put together by Richard McVay. He was not present but there were about 10 college students, a couple professors and a group of Hillary supporters. Anyways, Andrew went to the their protest site to videotape a couple odd displays they put up. They were beginning to get aggresive with Andrew simply because he was recording their protest. Jason and I went over to make sure he was ok. Long story short one girl attacked me which turned into 2 girls attacking me. Jason pulled one off of me and then he was attacked and held down by 4-5 people getting punched in the head. Meanwhile Andrew pulled the other girl off me and then she kicked me in the head with a great big boot. I called the cops and while we were waiting on them the girl that kicked me in the head went over to Andrew(14 years old) and punched him right in the face. My 12, 9, and 7 year olds were standing across the street witnessing the whole thing. Here’s the kicker. The cops watched the video at the scene and no arrests were made. One of the cops was very aggressive toward us. The girl later spit on Jason right in front of the cop and nothing was done about it. Amazing! Right now I have a huge headache and knots coming up all over my head. Jason has scratch marks on his face not to mention someone stomping on his glasses when they fell off. Andrew has a red cheek. So we’ll get a AAR for this event and Saturday’s maybe tomorrow night after we get our camera back.

This pissed off woman won’t back down to terror! And next time I will fight back!!!

What happened to you and the others with you is an assult and a felony.Once you have your camera back you should file a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office, both stae and federal. You should also file a complaint with the local Police Internal Affairs Office concerning the officer that stood by while the assult continued.Even if he/she is cleared, the complaint will remain on the officers file and can be used against them in future misconduct cases.Absolutly this officer ignored the law. You have every right to video the public and the actions of law enforcement. Believe me, if the local law enforcement refuses to due thier job,the federal will not.Even spitting on you is an assult and if the police officer refuses to do thier job, they are derilict in thier duty. It would also be wise to file a complaint with all elected officials, from local representatives to state,Congress & House of Representatives. Everyone MUST carry these misjustices forward and maybe the next police officer will not be as ignorant of the law. I am sorry this happened to you and the others and i hope you will seek the justice you and the others deserve. Larry

SEALS/SPECOPS INK writes about GOE!

March 30, 2008

The following is a note on the “Gathering of Eagles” as found in SEALS/SPECOPS INK

A number of you might remember that thousands of patriotic Americans confronted Cindy Sheehan during her March on the Pentagon in March of last year.  What you probably don’t know is that one of our SEAL brothers, Larry Bailey, organized that rally, called “Gathering of Eagles.”

That rally was so successful in confronting Sheehan’s people (they only put 12,000 or so on the Mall compared to GOE’s estimated 30,000) that the rally became the movement of the same name–”Gathering of Eagles,” or GOE.  Since that first event, GOE has been in the face of the such demonstrators as Code Pink, A.N.S.W.E.R., the Communist Party USA, United for Peace and Justice, among many others–on dozens of occasions.

To date, GOE’s protests have been pretty much local events with little or no coordination from the top.  Now, though, Larry says that they are ready to “go national” in the sense that the group needs to hire a full-time Executive Director and launch a national advertising program.  Up to now, it’s been an all-volunteer effort, except for hiring a webmaster for their website http://gatheringofeagles.org.

Larry asked me to pass the word to my mailing list and to ask that you SEALs (and others!) get involved.  I’m glad to do that.  These guys are doing the work and doing it well.  Last year, for example, they organized “Recruiter Appreciation Day,” and some 500 recruiting offices across the country were treated to coffee and pastries by Eagles.  And just last week they confronted the anti-war types in front of the recruiting offices in Charlotte, NC, and Pittsburgh, PA, and they absolutely routed them.  In Pittsburgh, when the “moonbats” saw how many Eagles were standing in opposition, they simply turned around and left!

Check out the GOE website, and if you like what you see, sent them a few bucks.

And now a message from the notorious Larry Bailey!

EAGLES TO THE FORE!!!!

March 20, 2008

As we bask in the glory of our recent triumphs in Washington, DC, we have suddenly come to the startling conclusion that we are out of funds. Dang.

The one thing I hate most about this job is having to ask folks to donate money, but from time to time I have to suck it up and beg for it. Now is one of those times.

And if we’re going to continue to grow like we’ve been doing, both in numbers and effectiveness, we need to have more money than ever before. Put succinctly, we’re working our one “semi-paid” employee to death and eating a lot of reimbursable expenses at the same time, and we have to do better than that.

Someone said that your finances follow your heart, and that is the case with so many dedicated Eagles. Hundreds of you pay your own way, and here I am asking you to help our “National.” I can’t help it. I’ve got to do it.

I hate to poor-mouth us, but we’re broke, and it comes at a time when we are in a position to be at our most effective. Specifically, we already have permits for a prime piece of real estate on Capitol Hill in April to welcome General Petraeus and simultaneously put pressure on Congress to put away any cut-and-run thoughts our elected officials may have.

We especially want to make it impossible for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and the other anti-American nincompoops to obstruct the proper execution of the Iraq War. Our servicemen and –women have already paid the price for victory, and we need but tough it out a while longer to demonstrate that the victory is essentially won already.

We need easily $10,000.00 to pull off the type of action we are planning in April.

Eagles, we are desperate. We are at the stage where we HAVE to have more financial support if we are to realize our potential.

Here’s an example of how we’re stepping out on faith: Eagle Robert Gowan, who is a Kona coffee grower on the “Big Island” of Hawai’i, has initiated a program that is already providing coffee to hundreds of troops in Iraq. He has now taken on the Marine Corps as a “client.” We haven’t given him a nickel, and he’s running a successful program.

With support from “National,” Robert could expand that program to include much larger numbers of troops.

Check the website in the next few days, and you’ll see a piece about the great work Robert is doing with the help of Irene Holland in Charlotte, NC, and a few other selfless patriots.

Tell you what. We’ve been promoting Scott Swett’s and Tim Ziegler’s great book, To Set the Record Straight, the definitive account of our Viet Nam vets defeated John Kerry. If you would like an autographed copy of that book, send me a hundred bucks or more, and I’ll send it to you. Now that’s a deal.

If you send $50.00 to $100.00, I’ll send you a copy of that great DVD of that great day of March 17th, 2007—GOE I!

If you donate by PayPal, be sure to inform me of that and send me your street address or PO box number.

PLEASE, PLEASE open your pocketbooks like you’ve opened your hearts and give us the means not just to stay where we are but to grow! We have a message that America needs to hear and that America LIKES!

Thank you.

Website issues-Update

February 25, 2008

Stand by Eagles. We seem to be having some issues with several areas of the website. I’ve talked to Kit and she is working to find out what’s going on and hopefully fix it.

Please be patient!

Ok…the forum is back. Kit is working frantically to get the new software ready to update the site. The test site looks fantastic, but it’s not quite ready yet. So bear with us, the upgrade will fix all of the little quirks we’ve all been emailing her about! It’ll be great!

VFW and American Legion speak out on Berkeley

February 6, 2008

VFW

“The resolution is a direct insult to not only the Marines Corps, but

also to all members of the nation’s armed forces,” said George

Lisicki, national commander of the VFW, the nation’s largest

organization of combat veterans. “Their recent actions represent a

calculated effort to legalize harassment of one of our nation’s most

elite military organizations. If there were ever a prize awarded for

lack of appreciation and awareness for what our military has

contributed to preserving our way of life, the Berkeley City Council

would certainly win the trophy.”

American Legion:

“Osama bin Laden couldn’t have said it better,” American Legion National Commander Marty Conatser said of the Berkeley City Council Resolution, which tells the Marines that they are not welcome there. “Disgraceful, disloyal, ungrateful. These words are too kind in describing the actions of the public officials in Berkeley, who voted for this disgrace. Nonetheless, our Marines continue to bravely serve and in so doing, allow Americans to spout such foolishness. The American Legion not only strongly condemns this action by the City Council but also believes that a sincere apology is in order to all Marines, past and present.”

Hackers attacking GOE members computers?

January 8, 2008

From Bob : Today at 1545 hours I was on the phone with Chris Hill.

I had started my laptop and logged on to my Verizon Wireless account and I received a notice that my Symantic security software had stopped an attack from a Trojan Horse. I opened the details, wrote down the IP address of the attacking computer and emailed my IT guys with the info.
I read my emails and had to call Chris to clarify something. (BTW, the IP address was traced to a Verizon Wireless card in New Jersey. Verizon has been notified)

I was talking to Chris and watching the screen and suddenly my cursor started moving. It went to Start, then run, then letters started appearing in the run box.

Upgrades and Updates

October 20, 2007

Eagles,

The GOE National site is undergoing some changes.  With all the local events going on around the country, we wanted to make sure you got to see the pictures, videos, and stories.  Also, in light of the last attack on the site a few weeks ago, there are some security concerns we needed to address.

Lastly, we’ve gotten a great deal of feedback from members like you explaining what you need and want on the site.  As a result, I’m upgrading and changing the GOE site over the next 24 hours, and you should see some great changes.  Most importantly, I’m taking great pains to ensure that navigation stays as close to what you’re used to as possible.  You’ll have a smooth experience with the changes as well.

If you’d like to take a peek at the new design, you’re welcome to check it out here.  Do not try to log in, as it won’t work.  Just take a look and enjoy the design, and it’ll be live on the national site over the next day or so!

GOE Overhaul

August 5, 2007

GOE is growing!  We’ve outgrown our current website again, and some of the issues with the theme have not resolved.  As a result, we’ll be upgrading to a new site over the next few days.

Before you scream about how much you hate change, let me assure you that this setup is going to be so much easier to use for all of you.  Here’s what you need to know:

- All usernames and passwords will stay the same.  This layout change will not affect your login.

Articles will now appear in sections by category.  This will make it easier for you to keep track of the stories you care about, whether those be After Action Reports, Upcoming Events, or the News Briefings.

- The site will be built more for information than looks.  While we hope you still enjoy how the site looks, our primary purpose is to get you to the information you need as quickly and easily as possible.  That means faster load times, easier access to what you want to see, easier reading, and just a better experience for all.

Stay tuned, excuse the mess, and get ready for an incredible new GOE site.

Eagles of Valor Dinner Update

July 11, 2007

Eagles,
I want to thank all of you who have participated in the polling process! This process was very important in determining the venue and plausability of this event.

Please keep in mind that this event is going to take place on September 22, 2007. If you do wish to attend this event please email Gabi at gabrielle.pike@gatheringofeagles.org  with the following information:

  • Number attending
  • Hotel Accommodations Needed (out of pocket)
  • Transportation Accommodations Needed (out of pocket)
  • Amount of days intending to stay in Chicago, IL.

Eagles, please note that all transportation and hotel accommodations will be offerred at a discounted price to all GOE members attending the event. Furthermore, airfare is cheaper if you fly in on a Thursday night and fly out on a Monday morning. I do understand this may not be possible due to work, family, previous obligations, and/or attending D.C. I do suggest for the best and cheapest airfare you check www.ITASoftware.com.  This website is the “back door” to flight scheduling and is the trick many travel agents use to book discounted fares.

Last but not least, if you cannot attend but would like to sponsor a Veteran or Active Duty member to attend this dinner, please email Gabi at gabrielle.pike@gatheringofeagles.org  with the following information:

  • Name of Service Member you wish to Sponsor (if known)
  • Number in Service Member’s party

GOE hopes to see alot of you there as we wish this event to be special and memorable for those we honor! GOE is striving to make this an annual event with the potential to move from state to state-so please, let’s give this year a great turnout!

Please notify Gabi of attendance no later than August 22, 2007.

Thank you all and Eagles up!

1st Annual Eagles of Valor Dinner

As members of Gathering of Eagles, GOE wishes you to provide input to ensure that this event is implemented to the best of our abilities. Please take a moment to answer the poll in the sidebar, and leave us a comment on this article letting us know any thoughts about the points below.

Thank you for helping us make this an event you will be proud to attend.

1. This event will be ticketed. The price of the tickets will include the meal, retainer of the venue, speakers, and additional items. Ticket prices are determined by the meal choice, and range from $60 per meal to $100. Would this affect your decision to attend?

2. The venue offers:

c) or a dinner package that includes a four course meal with appetizers and an Open Bar.

Which one would you prefer?

3. Do you think this is a positive event for GOE to sponsor?

4. Would you attend this event annually if GOE agrees to sponsor it annually?

Thank you for your input! We will review your responses and announce the details at a later date.

Generation 3 GOE: New GOE Site

June 24, 2007

GOE has evolved into the Generation 3 website!

GOE requests your patience while we continue with this process.

Kit and Anthony are working around the clock to fix all technological kinks and errors that have occurred during the change-over. Please remember that they have both worked extra hard and put alot of time into the GOE Gen. 3 to bring you a site that is faster, easier, and has more features that have been requested, such as:

  • An integrated forum allowing you to only use ONE username and password for everything on GOE.
  • A chatroom for real-time planning and socialization between Eagles.
  • Easier navigation and readability.

We thank all of you for your patience! Please continue to be patient as we change over.

Also, for all errors or problems regarding the new website, please email webmaster@gatheringofeagles.org. For all feedback, please email Gabi at gabrielle.pike@gatheringofeagles.org. This will ensure that Kit and Anthony have ample time to repair site issues.

Thank You!

Update by Anthony,

I have already received about 1 mill. emails about access to the old forums and it’s content. You may access the old forum data at: Forum Archive Please transfer any important data from the old forums to the new forums. The forum archive will not be around forever, it is insecure and wastes many of the servers resources.

Update by Kit: 0205 hours

We’re aware of the issue in Internet Explorer 7.  It is the ONLY browser that has problems with the site, and so we’re working on this as quickly as possible.

Please don’t send Anthony and I nasty emails about how you hate the site.  This is technologically the most sound version of GOE yet.  Please be patient while we get things squared away.

Also…if you’re having problems getting into the new forum, use your SITE password–NOT your old forum password.
