GoE on Long Island 3-1-08
March 2, 2008
Today was a great day for Eagles on Long Island!
Alerted by Tom DeLuca’s email, I sent out an action alert to all Long Island Eagles to try to make it to Patchogue to face off against the moonbats who have been persistently protesting in front of the Recruiting stations. Tom and Gary Vertichio have been facing these particular cretins unaided for a while now and there was no way I was going to let their request for assistance go unheard.
Although we had snow and rain overnight, the weather cleared by 0900 leaving us a clear crisp day with blustery winds. John and I arrived on site about 10:30 and were greeted by Tom Deluca of the Smith-Weaver American Legion Post and Bill Fries of the Conservative Party of Suffolk County. Over the next hour and a half other Eagles, Veterans, Blue Star Moms and Patriots came to join us until we had thirty plus manning the plaza outside the station.
After introductions we set about getting flags set up and starting our normal practice of energizing the traffic passing the site with our Honk for Victory signs and enthusiastic waving and thumbs up to motorists who pounded their horns for us.
We were joined by Lee Zeldin, the Iraq veteran and candidate for the 1st NY Congressional District, Ed Walsh, Chairman of the Suffolk County Conservative Party, Donna Dickinson, a Blue Star Mom, and others too numerous to list.
When the moonbats finally arrived (late as usual) they were shocked to find the little plaza swarming with patriots. They assembled their banner accusing our Recruiters of being stalkers and stood in a corner of the plaza cordoned off by Eagles so that their signs could not be read by the public. Spirited discussions ensued…
After a while Suffolk County Police came by and seperated the two groups saying that this was not a debate or something to that effect. Well, the debate continued just as hot and heavy as before, only this time a few more moonbats had arrived bringing their numbers up to eight or ten. One ‘goth’ girl had an IVAW sign although it was painfully obvious that she had never served.
News 12 Long Island, the television network, came by and interviewed Lee Zeldin, Ed Walsh and myself for their news segment. Tonight I saw one quick portion of Lee’s interview broadcast but I am unable to locate a link from their website.
Gary O’Rourke and Pamela took lots of great photos and video. Carolyn, Fernando, Pamela and David made the trek from New Jersey and NYC to join us. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Dominick and Jim, who are active in the weekly Setauket Troop Rally, arrive after finishing their action up north! Two moonbat encounters in a day is action above and beyond the call of duty!
Gary’s photos are here.
The few photos I took are here.

Videos follow:
- Arrived about 30 minutes late…but THERE we were looking GOOD!
- The debates were in full-swing!
- This Leftie …so nice…so caring…as he defends the traitors
- it was early, but ALREADY we had the traitors’ banner blocked
- All those honks were for the PATRIOTS!!
- This Leftie rarely shut up…he went ON and ON….zzzzz
- This was great…like a convention with both sides challenging the other…
- it was all civil discourse for quite awhile…
- ahah! those dreaded BIG corporations!
- and then…they tried moving around…we just followed them..not happy we keep standin in front of banner
- their video showed up so Lefties got more animated…played Race card with Fernando…
- Cops showed up to end the “those people’ Race debate (Lefties always call the police)
- She was REAL unhappy we kept standing in front of banner: TOUGH!!
- Sweet! They moved banner…we surrounded them with “God Bless America”
- The Eagles Rule!! God Bless America, Old Glory and chants of USA!!
- Her Leftie lies: we support our troops, want them home to protect OUR borders…yadayadayada
Thank you Gary and Pamela for taking all of these great shots!
All in all it was a great day on Long Island! We had fun and the moonbats didn’t. What more can you ask?
